That makes no sense... Besides I hear traffic on 161.295 constantly and its obviously repeated.

Amtrak PD on the Northeast Corridor is 161.295, but within Penn Station you can hear Amtrak PD on 160.365

This is how my Astro Saber is set up for the railroads
Ch 01: Rx 161.2950 - AMTK PD NE
Ch 02: Rx 160.3650 - AMTK PD NYC
Ch 03: Rx 161.0100 - AMTK NYC 1
Ch 04: Rx 160.6500 - AMTK NYC 2
Ch 05: Rx 160.5450 - AMTK - MNRR
Ch 06: Rx 161.2200 - PL 123.0 - MNRR PD CT-1
Ch 07: Rx 160.5600 - MNRR PD CT-2
Ch 08: Rx 155.7600 - MNRR PD NYC
Ch 09: Rx 160.4550 - PL 114.8 - LIRR PD F-1
Ch 10: Rx 160.6050 - PL 151.4 - LIRR PD F-2
Ch 11: Rx 160.3200 - PL 114.8 - LIRR PD F-3

I actively hear chatter in Penn Station on Channel 2.

That's really interesting. I wonder why they would have it setup like that.

As mentioned NJ Transit PD uses the Vhf Frequency in Penn Station NEWARK, NJ. Also they use the Motorola APX Radios for multi band/interoperability use in NJ & NY.

As mentioned, during very busy events in the city, they have been heard on VHF in Penn Station New York. is it possible they switch VHF at these times for interop with the other agencies in Penn who are all on VHF?

Yeah, I'm confused too, however anyone could submit false info. I do know that 161.295 is the main dispatch channel for Amtrak PD in the northeast in general. However, I know for a fact that they use 160.365 at NY Penn. Even though someone submitted it as the input, I would still like to confirm that in person considering I never heard a peep on 161.295 on my scanner while inside Penn. The best way to find out is to monitor 160.365 until you hear chatter and immediately switch to 161.295 to see if you're hearing it there too. Also, 160.365 is AAR Ch.17 nationwide, so it may not be just an input frequency.

We need someone to confirm for sure... Cause there have been "2" conformations...

I don't regularly commute through there anymore, but hopefully someone else can tell us for sure.

It appears someone is posting false information because he is bored and has nothing else to do. The admins in charge of modifications to that MTA Police page should be made aware of this and to stop accepting this person's submissions. 160.830 has always been an OUTPUT frequency and never was an input. That frequency is hardly used at NY Penn (if at all) now that the majority of NJ Transit PD are on the NJICS 700 system (which most likely would not work inside Penn). If NJ Transit PD were at NY Penn, my guess is they may use 160.830 simplex mode, if it's even setting in their radios.

I don't think a troll is the case... Probably just someone who is misinformed or has confirmed something that you or others haven't...

Well, it looks like the admins took out the Amtrak info completely from the MTA section. They also removed 160.785 as the "crowd control frequency completely" (Isn't that still in use?). The RR DB does have a separate section for Amtrak at NY Penn under "Railroads" but fails to include 160.365. Also, it lists 161.490 as MTA PD at NY Penn under the railroad section, but not in the MTA section. Good thing I program my bcd436 manually because I don't trust these trolls constantly taking relevant frequencies out of the DB. If anyone can confirm these frequencies still in use, please re-submit. I dont go through Penn often anymore due to all of the delays, so cannot confirm myself.

160.785 PL151.4 is used by LIRR maintenance crews on the island...

I have been curious about 2 MTA/LIRR freqs in particlar
One being 155.760 which ive seen that posted as "MTA Manhattan division" or something
I havent seen a tone confirmed anywhere but ive picked up DPL072 but its just sounds like a open mic or maybe a repeater screwing up...

The other is 160.830 which is licensed to the LIRR
It was also listed in the database as Metro-North Police
I have logged a PL of 123.0 several times but its mostly the same thing as the other freq - open mic/noise however i have heard police type activity also

160.785 (not sure of PL) was definitely used at one time by one of the PDs at New York Penn (perhaps LIRR) for crowd control. It was once listed as such in the rr db and I have it in my notes as confirmed via close call when I was there years ago. I am guessing that changed now unless it is used both in Ling Island and NY Penn.

The 160.830 frequency is the old (almost deprecated) NJ Transit PD frequency. There are many times I hear an open carrier on it now and it may possibly be used still via simplex mode in NY by NJ transit PD. Another mystery I am hoping to figure out one day. Very rarely NJ Transit pd is present in NYC, so would be hard to find out what they use when/if they are there.

I never heard a peep on 155.760, but have seen it listed as MTA PD at NY Penn on here in the past.
