Okay...my head is whirling around, probably because it's 5 'till midnight, or maybe because I've been digging around for 2 hours trying to figure out how to do this. I need help!

I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 with 5 instances of ScannerCast. 3 of those feeds are stereo, the other 2 are mono feeds. I'm using an M-Audio 1010LT sound card and have no problems with the hard wire connections to my computer. Where I'm having an issue is configuring ScannerCast in the Startup file so that they start right to their respective streams. I figured out how to get 5 instances in the Startup file, but I can't figure out how to change each one to be completely independent of the next. I've searched the forums here and they mention having to change your .ini file to associate with its own stream.

How do you do that???

I've even gone to K1PGV's website and found that of no help because I'm not getting the "Catch fired: Could not start server. Check Port and IP" error he describes. I also can't follow him when he says "start ScannerCast with the following command: ScannerCast foo.ini" Not sure what that means either.

I can get all 5 to run automatically from Startup, but the 2-5th incidences give me:
Error status from RR.
HTTP/1.0 403 Mountpoint in use
Content- Type: text/html

Retry: Retries connection (no further connection errors will be shown)

Cancel: Stops trying to connect to the RR server.

I then hit Cancel and get the following error:
Error 105
Connect to RR failed. No further connect attempts will be made.

Stop ScannerCast and try again.

I hit OK and then Stop Broadcast on the incident of ScannerCast. I have to manually configure the feed input and Feed to Send, and enable Stereo. Once I do that manually, I can start the feed and everything works great!

That's very much a pain to do. I figure by reading here that there is a way to have them start automatically and associate automatically, but I just can't figure it out.

Thanks in advance!

What I do is make a short cut on the desktop for each instance. here is my shortcut.

C:\scannercast\ScannerCast.exe 33p911.cfg

If i want to launch a new clean instance just make a new shortcut and change the .cfg file. You don't have to create the .cfg file. Scanner cast will do it automagicly the first time you fire it up with that in the short cut.

I also copy the short cuts to the start up folder too.. so on reboot the come up..

Currently have about 35 instances of SC running that way.. I LOVE SC..

Thanks for the reply.

Which version of SC are you using? I am currently using V0.14 on Windows 7 64 bit. I've looked in my SC folder and can't find a .cfg file. I have several .dll files and the .ini file that has configuration data in it. I would assume the .ini file is where I need to make my adjustments, but I'm not sure what I'm doing. I moved all 5 instances of SC.ini over to the Startup file and when I started the computer, not only did SC open, so did the .ini files....so I guess that's not right.

Once I deleted the .ini files they no longer open, but now I have to configure each SC instance manually. Once I figure out how to open each instance clean, my next question would be can the .ini files and the .exe files be in two separate folders? Said another way, if each instance opens in Startup by the .exe file, can the configuration data in the .ini file be held in the SC folder and work correctly.

Hope that makes sense.

But first, I just need to figure out how to open each to its own respective stream.

Thanks!

you don't put things in 2 different folders... they all go into one.. and the .ini file is where the configs are stored not a .cfg file.. you choice which .ini file you want to use in the shortcut when you start the .exe like how i pasted before.

C:\scannercast\ScannerCast.exe 33p911.cfg

I also copy the short cuts to the start up folder too.. so on reboot the come up..

So all I have to do is rename my shortcuts to:
ScannerCast Denver Fire.exe
ScannerCast Denver News.exe
ScannerCast Denver Skywarn.exe
ScannerCast NColo Skywarn.exe
ScannerCast CSpgs Skywarn.exe

...put them in the startup folder and launch them. Then SC will create a .ini file automatically with the info for each separate feed?

Sorry, W7 and SC are new to me and the learning curve is steep.

Thanks!

No, you don't have to rename the .exe, you only need a single .exe. It's the .ini files you need to duplicate/rename.

Hahaha, SUCCESS!!! Well if that wasn't hard enough! Thanks guys for your help!

After much experimentation and playing around, and the help by you two gentelman, here's what I did for Windows 7 64 bit with ScannerCast V0.14 Hopefully this will help someone in my shoes, since SC's directions weren't too clear on K1PGV's page.

-Left click on your Start menu
-Left click on All Programs
-Right click on Startup
-Left Click on Open
-Right click in the box and go to New Shortcut
-Browse to where your ScannerCast.exe file is
(For me it was in C:\Downloads\sc_rr_v014\ScannerCast.exe)
-Select ScannerCast.exe and hit OK
-Right click in the Create Shortcut box under "Type the location of the item:" and rename your new location as C:\<your directory>\ScannerCast.exe <name of the feed>.ini (For me C:\Downloads\ss_rr_v014\ScannerCast.exe Denver Fire VHF VocAlarm Dispatch.ini)

Now that the new Shortcut is named, double click on it to open an instance of ScannerCast. (It should be a blank instance with no feed info)
-Enter your user name and password and click on "Login to RR and Get Config"
-Select your feed properties from "Feed to Send" and " Sound Input" and advanced settings you want. Under Advanced, I selected "Minimize to System Tray" and "Start Broadcast When ScannerCast Starts"
-Click on "Start Broadcast" and check to see if your status says "Sending OK"
You should be set! It will automatically stream when you power up.

NOTE! Where I had trouble is I had 3 streams that started with "Denver." SC created one stream with a file of "Denver" in your directory where SC.exe is, but when it tried to create the other 2 streams starting with "Denver" it gave me errorsa nd wouldn't stream the other 2 streams.

If you have 2 or more streams that start with the same name:
-Open your startup folder by left clicking on Start
-Left click on All Programs
-Right click on Startup
-Left click on Open
-Right click on one of the streams that starts with the same name.
-Go down to Properties and left click
-Left click in the "Target" box.
-Go to where the names are the same and delete a space between the two words. (For me, I have Denver Fire and Denver Area Skywarn as streams. So, in my Target box I went to Denver Fire and deleted the space between Denver and Fire so it looks like DenverFire)
-Click on "Apply" at the bottom.
-Repeat that for any streams that conflict

Restart your computer and all of them should fire up and run without problems.

Whew!

Thanks again guys.
