Ok, maybe this has already been addressed but i can't find an answer. There are two dispatches listed for the Murfreesboro Fire Dept, Old and New. They are still using the old as of today. Also, they respond to EMS/First Responders on the EMS Dispatch channel. What gives? Is anyone from there familiar with the FD setup?

The Rutherford County Ambulance Service is a screwy service that insists on some quarky proceedures. MFD is dispatched on the MFD frequency. They check enroute with MFD and then they check enroute with RCAS on the EMS frequency. This allows the control of the response do reside with RCAS.

More Questions About Rutherford Co.

Ok, i've got a few more questions about Rutherford/Murfreesboro.
1. When EMS dispatches ambulances, they first send out audible tones. I'm guessing pager tones, but i know close to nothing about this subject. Is there a way to decode/understand these tones? What exactly are they used for?
2. Is the Fire MOSCAD freq useful to us listeners?
3. I've found 5 freqs for the Sheriff's dept (WFS750) not listed in database. Don't know what they're used for. 460.2875 465.1625 465.2875 465.4625 460.4625
4. I have about 10 frequencies listed for Ruth EMA. Are these used daily, or just in case of emergency situations?

You're probably refferring to North Net, South Net, Firecom (for VFD's), no?

Also, note that the Rutherford County Highway Department and North Net share the same frequency, but different PLs.

I haven't heard of *ten* frequencies listed for EMA. They may have base station licenses for all the fire mutual aid, statewide EMS and HEAR channels.

Post what you have listed and I can check on it (possibly).

If you are referring to the two tones you hear, yes, those are the paging tones (Motorola QCII). The 'telephone' tone is a ring back tone to let the dispatcher know that the page was received by the medic's ambulance radio.

There's no way to understand them unless you memorized the sound of them associated with a particular unit (hi hi hi).

I wouldn't say screwy. . .just a separate entity falling under a different government. That's why the system is the way it is. . .

Ruth EMA

Thanks for the input. Some of them were North and South Nets, about 2 hours after i posted i found some old info burried somewhere in my room for some of the frequencies. Here's what i have left listed as Rutherford EMA:

KAG384: 155.8800, 45.0800, 46.5400, 45.3600 (KAG384 also has firecom licensed)
KDY371: 155.7600
WPWM364: 453.7500, 458.7500 (looks like input/output pair)

I know plenty about the RCAS and it is screwy. I do see that you are a 1700 series unit, so you should know.

ez_duce: The low-band stuff isn't used anymore. Lavergne Rescue uses their low-band freq. occasionally for a 'private' talkaround type channel. A couple of the low band freq's on your list I think used to belong to Lascassas VFD and Christiana VFD, respectively. Once they went VHF, most of that stuff was abandoned.

I am unsure what the UHF pair is. . . interesting.

Smyrna Rescue uses 37.900 low band as well for their car-to-car operations and to coordinate with La Vergne Rescue.
