I will just drop this whole 166.835 thing maybe someday It will come back ? and not really FED related so I do not want to go off topic on the FED forum I just mentioned it cause it fell in that 162-174 Fed area ...thanks for everybody,s input
another anomaly like "Yosemite Sam" just joking 73,s Marcy

(if you been around awhile you know what I,m saying?)
It is interesting to me because it reminds me of some satellites that I have received in past. They are in the 148 MHz federal range and had very strong carriers punctuated by musical tone that were used for telemetry . You might check the NTIA Federal Red Book for UTC assignments in 166 MHz to see if listed. There should be some Doppler shift if you have a receiver that indicates such.

I also went thru the NTIA FOIA document from a few years ago, nothing close to her QTH/Region

Marcy; if you have a Uniden receiver with IFX, try pressing that button when the signal is present, otherwise listen 2 x the first IF frequency below 166.835 MHz .

I was responding specifically to what you said here:

"I also went thru the NTIA FOIA document from a few years ago, nothing close to her QTH/Region"
Guess we are going to have to be explicitely clear with all the postings and re-read, re-edit so there is no misunderstanding or vagueness allowed and remove any/all acronyms to prevent confussion with the tourists from other regions.

"I also went the the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), Freedom of Information Act file that was posted here an other places on the Inter Webs, for that specific Frequency as well as slightly +/- for adjacent channels, within the normal and band openning locations that Marcy has typicall heard with all her postings of the past few years or time well spent searching the bands "

Was this actual music? constant single tone or multiple tones that vary in frequency? repeating sequence of short tones that vary in frequency?
Analog telemetry using audio tones exists. I don't know how much it is used now.

IMHO, typically she has been using the Icom R8600 as listed in her Signature line.
I brought that up because I reviewed NTIA and found no satellite allocations for 166 MHz range. There are those down around 136 and 148-150 and of course amateur radio 144 MHz. It could be a very old satellite or one in a foreign country. My very old records do not show it. So an IF image might be possible.
