You can not monitor them if they are encrypted.

But if you want any more info you need to tell us what system they are on, location, and agency name.

Thank you for the quick responses. It is Freehold Township police in Monmouth County NJ TG 5006 (Encrypted) sounds like my my expensive radio just became a doorstop for my locality.

If the only thing you find interesting is local police, then yes, though the SDS100 is selling at a premium right now so you won't lose much, if anything. But, there is still the local fire/EMS, other police departments, Feds, Mil Air, Civilian Air, Railroads, schools, businesses and the list goes on. To say it is a door stop because one agency stopped broadcasting in the clear is like saying cars are useless because you can't buy a blue one.

And the "big-E" rears its ugly head once again! To the OP if you take a look at the Monmouth County Public Safety database page at the talkgroup tables, focusing on the Mode column, all talkgroups listed as mode "DE" or "TE" are encrypted and therefore cannot be monitored. Only those with mode "T" are "in the clear" and CAN be monitored. Hope this helps, 73!

I think the OP's question has been answered.

If you want to discuss encryption, and yes, you can use that word instead of some made-up euphemism, we have a thread for that:
