I see this NAC on quite a few frequencies is this a NAC used by multiple agencies?
it looks listed as that? I copied it a 172.825 in clear but I see CG is not on that freq.
so there is really no way to know? is that correct?...thanks in advance...73,s Marcy

Here and there
293 is a default nac standard like a tone. Most keep it at that when in doubt I'm places. F7E is digital equivalent to csq (no tone) on rx.

Since you have a clear shot into southern New England (CT/RI) as well as NY/NJ keep an ear on this and see if you can figure out
which Airport the FAA Techs are talking about...

I am going to speculate the signal is rather strong and prior reports point to the area of LGA or JFK
Note - repeaters may not actually be at the Airport, but provide Wide Area coverage for the Techs to work on multiple sites/locations
where the FAA equipment maybe location [including Radar and WX Radar sites]

Those transmissions are super brief ! a YL always
says something fast and all I hear is a guy say
"roger" thats it, not really sure how to get id?
it has a NAC of 293 and grp: 26 and 2150 not sure
what that means?...and please do not come back
with some smarky or nasty remark we all are new
to this at some point...cause I get my share...thanks

trying to remember your radio display

Grp could be TalkGroup, but most of what I see for the FAA is TG: 1
or these could be Radio ID's [RIDs]

Be Snarky back to the Children, they were rookies at this once before
and need to be more of an ELMER - that said there is nice feature here
on RR, that lets you flag someone to IGNORE - works rather well :)

as a "expert" and nothing less ! anyhow that being said to me and
my novice opinion does not sound like FAA would they not be more

so the NRCS system uses a 125 watt Quantar repeater that will accept analog or P25 and is usually tied to a POTS line. Enven though it is a "FAA" repeater, it is open by default so other agencies regularly use. It definitely will not be what you are use to on the air bands. Think more along the lines grease monkies, techs work ILS problems, someone polishing a lightbulb. Or you have been listening to CBP/TSA. Like I stated before, they are wide open.

@Marcy57 Have you received many hits on 172.825 between 9 30 and 11 am today? I have had the freq in and so far only one hit that was weak as far as signal, but it does display tg 1 and without a radio id. Gonna leave it another hour.

I have had it running for the last 3.5 hours in DSDPlus but I was not here. I do not see that it generated a wav file so I cant say anything about clear voice. Did catch one radio id of 21508. Below is all the was logged over the 3.5 hours. If you receive regular activity, its possible you might be receiving something other than FAA in NYC but you did report grp: 26 and 2150 and I logged radio id 21508. So I am wondering if your receiver has a setting for how many characters of a radio id it will display.

I can understand the logic in thinking it would be Plane/Aircraft traffic but alas Nope.
Generally these are the Engineering Techs, who go fix the electronics [atleast what we hear OTA in New England]
