I was trying to monitor the new NASA/Ames system on my HP-1, and I can't hear anything. I used the latest programming/download from Uniden/RR.com and can verify the system is properly programmed as a P25 system.

I wondered if there may be an issue with the base/offset. I enabled the "Current Activity" from the Extreme Edition features to show me frequencies and LCNs. I verified mathematically that the base and offset were correct with a default of 406.0 and 12.5kHz.

Then I saw this old thread that said most of the TGIDs were encrypted:
http://forums.radioreference.com/sa...sion/320627-new-nasa-ames-trunked-system.html

...then I went back to the activity monitor. The MODulation field for all of the traffic showed us as "D", which I assume to be Digital.

Now for questions...

Should encrypted TGIDs show up in the Activity Monitor as "E" for Encrypted?

Am I missing any settings that would allow Extreme Edition/Trunk Analyzer features to work, but prevent any audio?

I know the audio works because other systems come in fine.

My best guess is that the Trunking Activity for Encrypted shows up as "D", and everything on the system is encrypted, but I wanted to check to see if anyone else has any obvious ideas.

Here is a link to the NASA Ames system in the database:

...note to the DB admins that all of those TGIDs are probably wrong, since at a minimum, the modulation should be "D". And so far, I concur with StealthGuy05's last post in the referenced thread. All of the TGIDs are in the 12xx-13xx range.

Since this is P25, there is no need for the base/offset/step settings. The scanner should be able to determine the proper voice frequencies when programmed as P25.

Of all the talk groups I've found so far, they are all encrypted. Here's what I've found so far:
1273
1289
1290
1292
1297
1312
1353
1434
1436
1443

When the P25 part came online, the only modification to the system in the DB was the system type. We left the talkgroups alone so they wouldn't get lost and could be compared with any new talkgroups that came online. Apparently that never happened.

At minimum I'll make them depreciated and hopefully they can get moved to wiki by someone because I don't know how to do that. Wiki is not something I like messing with.

That step may not even be needed if we know for sure all talkgroups are encrypted because we would have nothing to compare old to new.
