I am happy to host your write up for free. You can publish it on Digital Frequency Search or put it on my hosting with your own domain name. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it being touched. I tried to message you, but it said your inbox is full... after I wrote up a nice message to you...

Sorry about that "full" message box. Hopefully you copied it or have a copy in Sent Messages. That darn box fills up so fast I have trouble cleaning it out. I save some messages to keep in touch with certain members. The message space is not big enough, but I'm not complaining (imagine that...hihi).

If you want to host this, have at it. Information exchange is what it is all about. Just tell 'em it's SOFA_KING GOOD. :D

One day I need to change that user name!

Does it? The first time I tried that with my older PSR-800 I remembered it screwing everything up.

Wow! look at that! Thanks! That saves you from having to select the dropdown heading for each column. Cool!

Yes, it does fill the very first row with the duplicate (unneeded) header information, and that will mess up the import, BUT YOU CAN highlight that extra header row up top, right click on it, then DELETE it. Now you have a clean import with less work.I tested it, and it works well without messing up my programming.

That is good collaboration. Thank you!

Phil

I could rename the header columns to correspond with EZ Scan naming conventions as well. Just as a general import header. Why is it
inputting as one long row? It's not showing the rest of the frequency data. Interesting.

Yep. If I knew it worked that way, I would have done just that. Not a big deal, but for someone doing it from scratch they might as well.

Thanks again!

Phil

EDIT: Are you saying you are having a problem with one long row??? Does this method work for you?

Ok this works if I import what I've highlighted within the Excel spreadsheet page: select just header and data, then copy. From EZ Scan, copy from "Clipboard". But pulling in the same data via "text file" only gives me one very long header of data. Also EZ Scan says, "Columns with the default tag will not be imported..."

That's a bummer, would be easier to import lists as .csv files. Not sure how within easy EZ Scan you were able to strip out the extra data. I only get the option to wipe out the entire header...

Do you have any data beyond column Q? I know I don't. That would then input additional data to the CSV import that would confuse EZ-Scan. Just a thought.

It's working flawlessly here. I do use an older version of Excel, but I doubt that is making a difference.

Columns 1-16 are defined, 17 and beyond are undefined...
See the pic I attached.

That is the problem. The data beyond column 17 (column Q in Excel) is exceeding the limits of what EZ-SCAN can accept and confusing it. Even if you don't define it, it still sees it and imports it.

Try limiting the data to only the 17 items that EZ-Scan can accept. I bet it will solve the problem you are having. ;)

Thanks for getting all of the headers right and establishing that it disregards the duplicate row. I added headers to Digital Frequency Search Quick Import so it's even that much easier to import now.

Great work.

One thing on your xls files. Why audio boost on only for digital? For me at least, digital booms out of the speaker compared to analog, even with the DAC set low.

I'll make a page with this stuff later on and let you look at it.

Even better, would you mind if I hosted it in a Quick Import like format?

Will give that a try. Thanks.

Sofa King,

Take one of your excel files including the header, import it using "Text" option in EZ Scan, and see if
you end up with the same result.

Thanks.

Great information on this thread. Thanks to folks like Justin, Phil, Troy, and milcom chaser. Been using the TRX-1 and 2 most of day with the NXDN update. Beautiful P25, DMR, and NXDN quality in these units. I really have to invest more time in using EZ Scan import with Excel like you folks are doing. Been scanning 40 plus years and still feel like a novice when read posts like yours.

What do you mean, "look to be right"? You wrote, "nothing happens"
Please elaborate, thank you.

yeah sorry, i was trying to be quick I guess, I have copied the rows

FREQUENCY, AGC, ALPHA TAG, ATTENUATE, AUDIO BOOST, COLOR CODE, DELAY LOCKOUT, MODE

Selected text import and made sure all the rows matched up with the ones and EZ-Scann,
Then clicked import and nothing happens, sometimes the cursor will spin for a second but nothing imports.

It also does that when I try to import from digitalfrequencysearch.com .

You can't import an Excel file. After you finish working on it in Excel you have to "Save As" a CSV file. That can import.

I took a sample file I converted to CSV format and left the header in the file. Then I imported it into EZ-Scan. Then I highlighted the unwanted redundant header row, right clicked on it, and deleted it. After that was gone I executed the Import. The channels were added to the bottom as expected.

See the two screen captures showing the results. It works!

Phil

EDIT NOTE: Large lists take a LONG TIME to complete in EZ-Scan. It may look like it's doing nothing, but it is. It takes time. The program is slow to update large amounts of channels.

Yes, I'm aware it needs to be .csv vs .xlsx
Ok, your able to at least get the file with the header into EZ-Scan via text import. For some reason, mine
just pulls in the header only row with all the data column 17 and beyond. Tried hiding any columns past "Q"
seems that didn't work. Must be something in Excel. Bizarre...
Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting.

Hiding the data beyond Colum 17 (Q) doesn't get rid of it. All those cells have to be completely empty.

Try this. Use the first example file I uploaded (the small one) and convert it to CSV. Then import that and see what you get. My files are clear of any data beyond Column 17 (Q).

Send me that .csv you used in the illustration. If it works, then I'll know there is an issue in Excel on this side.

Send it PM if like.

Thanks.
