After all this talk, I timed the hot tones put out by Phx PD and their tone is only 4 seconds. Phx doesn't sound any longer or shorter than any others I've heard. I would recommend you listen and time the tones because if it is 6 seconds the scanner is looking for and your local PD uses less you are just spinning your wheels. Six seconds seems like a long time for a hot tone.
I recorded the call and measured its length on Audacity. It was exactly six seconds long. As a first tone with no second tone, I have no idea of what the scanner will "expect." Time will tell. Still waiting for the next hot tone.

There was another Hot Tone emitted and found that A = 1,000 and B = 0 works as Tone Out settings for a Hot Tone. Thanks to all who participated in this thread. Have a Happy Fourth of July.

I'm glad you got it to work. But, I'm curious. What department wastes 6 seconds of air time for hot tones?

Show Low PD. However, I only timed one instance of it. It is possible that the dispatcher controls its length and that at other times, it may be made shorter.
