I have been unable to successfully program Roane County Fire Disp and their Fire Ops channels nor Roane County EMS in a RadioShack Pro 652. If anyone has any advice I wound gladly take it

I would strongly suggest Starrsoft's Win500 Application for programming the 652. I also have a 652 and the 651 and this application works flawlessly with it. You can import directly from RadioReference over the Web and send the data straight to the radio. You would just need the software, programming cable and subscription to RadioReference [$15 for 180 days I believe]. The software is $30 bucks but in my opinion is well worth it for what it does. Unfortunately, I've never manually programmed sites / talkgroups into either of my radios so I'm not much help there but if I can find some time, I'll revisit the manual and see if we can't come up with something to get you going if the software programming route isn't an option.

Here's a few screenshots of importing two TACN sites located in Roane County and all of their talkgroups via Win500: http://imgur.com/a/g0b7O

Thank you

Thanks for the screen shots. I did manually program the scanner and I will compare the settings I entered with those in the screen shots and see where I went wrong. I realize some of the county is encrypted but to the best of my understanding the fire channals and Ems is not. I do intend to get the program but RadioShack has been out of stock so I may look into just ordering it online if you have any recommendations for where to get it.

Yeah, RadioShack has been pretty unreliable these days since the business is going to the dumps. The local RadioShack here in Crossville finally closed. eBay might be the best bet on finding the programming cable. There are a few on there now but are retail prices. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RADIO-SHACK...277841?hash=item27fc84ac51:g:MJkAAOSwBahU2pFV and http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GRE-Rad...305268?hash=item1c5eaa5434:g:VRYAAOSwLzdWTKnV. Drivers for these are all over the Internet to download. I think the Win500 site has a link to them.

I've used two of the Starrsoft products [Win97 being the other] and have never had an issue. Both great products. http://www.starrsoft.com/software/win500/default.asp Again, you would need the RadioReference subscription to pull the data down automatically from the Web but can save a few bucks if you enter it in manually.

Also, looks like your right on the encryption. Looks like in the database a few of the talkgroups use encryption sometimes. You'll either hear people talking or a jumbled up mess.
