Hi I just got a new BCD396T and was wanting to know if anybody could help me getting this thing going with troop L.
Need help with ASP AWIN

I don't know if this is the 'textbook' AWIN config but it's how I do it. I'm in Fayetteville.
New System - "MOT" type system
select P25
Edit Name - make it AWIN or whatever you like
go to Edit Sys Option - set a Quick Key. Whatever's convenient and available - I have mine on "2".
back out of that and go to "Set Frequencies"
Go http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=3918 here and enter all the frequencies that are listed under a "Troop L" site
If you want to enter talkgroups, go for it; since there are so many TG's I just keep it in ID SEARCH to pick up all talkgroups.
Note that I don't know if the "program in every frequency in one system" is the proper way to do it - I think you're supposed to run "one system, one tower" but I notice no decreases in performance or response time.

BCD396t setup
I have found that the one tower one system works for the BCD396T. I program the control channel only for each tower and it tracks perfectly. The 4 or 5 towers around Fayetteville should be all you need to program if you aren't going to take it on the road to the rest of Arkansas.
Just the control channels only is needed. It will do the rest!

Thanks for the help I did that and I dont hear that much traffic. I did hear a guy ask for a radio check and he was in Jackson county.
thanks I will try that. Is it just me or like does it sound like when they first start to talk that they are like talking under water

I have the BCD396T and I just programed all of the CC's on my radio and it seams to work best for me so that way when I go to another part of the state I don't have to look up a CC its already there and the scanner will pick up only the best CC for the area your in so i think thats the best way to do it.
