Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Welcome to the RR forums. Is your work aware and OK with you using personally owned radios on their channels? Speak to whomever is responsible for programming your work's radios to see if they'll lend you a hand

The RT22 is an FRS UHF family radio using unlicensed freqs. The RT85 is an Amateur/ham radio that is not leagal to use (transmit) on FRS freqs. To use the RT85 on the Amateur bands you need an Amateur radio license to transmit, but not to listen to any frequency it can receive.

they don't have there own channel's and they don't program their radio's they just buy the retevis RT22's of amazon and use that channels that are already programed to the radio which as far as i know is FRS.

I am in Canada and as far as I know I don't need a license to operate on these FRS channels

Try entering the TX tone as 67.0 in the menu options. I believe that is the default CTCSS tone for channel 1 on the RT 22. CTCSS or PL codes are subaudible tones that accompany the radio frequency that can be used to silence other users on the frequency and only allow other radios transmitting the same frequency and code to break the squelch. You are transmitting on the correct frequency, but missing the tone.

From looking at the manual for the RT85, it should be menu item #25. YouTube should have some videos that might help with this. Try the one below.

This page shows the RT22 programming as follows:

  • Retevis RT22
Ch Frequency Tone Notes
1 462.1250 69.3
2 462.2250
3 462.3250
4 462.4250 103.5
5 462.5250 114.8
6 462.6250 127.3
7 462.7250 136.5
8 462.8250 162.2
9 462.9250 D025
10 463.0250 D051
11 463.1250 D125
12 463.2250 D155I
13 463.5250 D465I
14 450.2250 D023
15 460.3250
16 469.9500 203.5

However, where my wife works, they use RT68s and this is the default programming:

Retevis RT68

1 462.5625 67.0 PL
2 462.5875 118.8 PL
3 462.6125 127.3 PL
4 462.6375 131.8 PL
5 462.6625 136.5
6 462.625 127.3
7 462.725 141.3
8 462.6875 141.3
9 462.7125 146.2
10 462.55 123.0
11 462.575 654 DPL
12 462.600 455 DPL
13 462.650 351 DPL
14 462.675 606 DPL
15 462.700 155 DPL
16 462.725 252 DPL

I took one of my Whistler scanners to her work and used the Spectrum Sweep option to figure out the default programming of the RT68s.

If you already know that channel 1 is 462.5625, then it may have the same programming as the RT68.
