• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Need help with getting XNMS 4 working

I got Hytera XNMS with the intention to monitor my repeater. To make the long story short, I can't seem to get it to work. After setting it up (and configuring the repeater) per the instructions, I get as far as adding a repeater by entering its serial number. After that, the repeater and the XNMS software exchanges some very basic information, so XNMS finds out the IP address of the repeater, the repeater alias, but that's about how far it ever goes. In the "Monitor" tab, I see the repeater, and a bunch of "thermometers" showing various things, but they never change. They are all "0" or "Normal". On the Monitor -> Details screen, the only info filled in correctly is the serial number and the alias. The frequency and all other fields are blank.
On the Parameters tab, everything is blank. When I click on "Read", I get a "read error".
On the Query -> Repeater Log screen, when I run a report, the only messages are "Repeater On-Line" or "Repeater Off-Line".

The repeater and the XNMS server are on the same network. In the repeater, I did enter Conventional -> General Setting -> Network -> SNMP:
SNMP Trap Port: 161
SNMP Trap: IP Address of the XNMS Server
SNMPT Local Port: 162
Everything is checked
XNMS Access Code: I entered a random code which I also entered in XNMS client when I added the repeater.

On the XNMS server side, I followed the install instructions as best as possible.
Installed the provided mySQL and set a password for it. Success.
Then installed the XNMS software.
I ran the XNMS Config tool as an Administrator, and since all services are on the same server, I used the quick IP config, with 127.0.0.1 IP address for all services.
The Data Service is running.

The Database service under the Comm Service Center is running. Database Connection test passed. The odd thing on this screen is a message "The database does not exist. You can click on Create Database to create database." I do that: stop the service, create the database (creation successful), test connection (successful), and refresh the screen and still get this message "Database does not exist...".

On the Comm Service Center tab, another thing is I can import a license file. I don't have one. But I assume I could use the Express version (with limited functionality), without a license. Yes?/No?

So does anyone have any pointer?
