Just curious, and if this post is an issue Mods feel free to delete...

This is two completely separate systems joined via ISSI.
Metro-21 and the MRRS, where did the term Metro-25 come from.
Metro 25 is the P25 system that replaced the EDACS Metro 21 system ... Metro 25/MRRS is one P25 II trunked "system" with two system ID's ...

There is internal debate among some of the state guys as to what 26D is actually named. In most of the NYSP and Park Police APX codeplugs, the system is named "Metro25", however there is at least one NYSP boss who is adamant that the name never changed when they migrated from EDACS to P25, and that it's still named Metro21.

As for the ISSI link, that's quite possible, although there was also intel stating that they share a core.

Here's the bottom line, for RadioReference purposes: The name 25 vs 21 is inconsequential. If you're looking for that particular system, you're going to find it either way. As for the ISSI link vs shared core, again largely inconsequential since many of the talkgroups come up on both 26D and 26E across all cells of the larger network. Imagine what a mess it would be to duplicate all of those talkgroups between two completely separate systems within the database? No thanks.

I would like to know if anyone has had luck hearing Scarsdale PD on Zone 3 TG - 9565? They moved over to the MTA system back in July 2024. I am able to receive Harison PD and Eastchester PD on Zone 3 and they both come in loud and clear. If I hear Scarsdale at all they do not come in clear and low volume. I have the system programed in on my SDS100 and BCD325P2 and can hear it on both Radios. Any help would be appreciated.

Eric - I’m in the same boat with Pleasantville and all I can offer is what others more knowledgeable than me have offered. It is possible they are using LTE. I do t get Harrison or Echester loud and clear up county here but do get bits and pieces. Best of luck to you.

I'm located in Mamaroneck and never pick up Harrison or Scarsdale. I do however pick up Port Chester while in the Mamaroneck area. However if I'm in Port Chester I will not receive Port Chester at all 🤔

Can confirm Scarsdale is active on 9565. There is also a Tac channel 9566 and a "Villagewide" on 9568. I have only heard 9565 dispatch so far but it is definitely active.

The Zone 3 site for Westchester County is simulcast. The only scanners designed to receive simulcast sites are the Uniden SDS100 handheld and SDS200 base/mobile. Any other scanners may or may not work depending upon your location. Here is a list of P25 Phase 2 capable scanners:
Just because a site says "simulcast" doesn't mean you need an sds-100 to receive it. There are 2 distinct types of simulcast (C4FM and LSM)
It's The LSM type that you need an sds-100 to receive clearly but the C4FM type you can receive on most digital Phase 2 scanners.
I listen to the MMRS/Metro-25 system (which is C4FM simulcast) with a Uniden BCD325P2 and reception is perfect no distortion.

The system uses CQPSK modulation for the FDMA channels, and H-DQPSK modulation for the TDMA traffic channels, not C4FM.

Ok I stand corrected on the modulation scheme this system uses, but a Bcd325p2 works fine so an sdr front end is not needed right

I have 2 scanners a BCD325P2 & SDS100. I have both programed to scan on Zone 3 for the Westchester Police departments. On my SDS100 I can receive the ones I scan that are Eastchester, Harrison, and Scarsdale. With the same setup on my BCD325P2 I can't here them at all in scan mode, but when I put 325P2 in to Hold mode and set it to one of the PD's that I scan I can hear them talk. Does anyone know why this is happening? Any Insite is Helpful. PS: all the setting on both my Scanners are the same. Thank You.

The 325P2 and other non-SDS scanners have problems with P25 simulcast so it is struggling to track the control channel data. When it only has to track one TG it has a better chance of success. I suspect it is even missing some activity on the selected TG.
