Phillip - Below is how I have one of my handhelds configured for local operations on the Palnet system.
I always monitor the Newport and Lancaster sites, and sometimes include the Chester site when the control channel is audible and something is going on below exit 65 on I-77.
The site info comes directly from Radio Reference. The (*) indicates a primary or alternate control frequency.
Newport ... 854.8375 855.7875 858.2875* 860.7875* 866.4875
Lancaster ... 856.9625 857.9625 858.9625 859.8625 867.9500 868.9875*
Chester ... 866.1375 866.4250 866.7125 867.5750* 867.8625*
Below are the talkgroups I have in the scan list. The first section is SCHP and Interstate ops, and you'll sometimes hear both I-77 and I-85 (Cherokee Co) traffic.
The second section covers the med helos on the system. Some folks have referred to 03856 as being used by Regional One. CareForce comes up here regularly. The memory is going, but I believe it was LifeReach that came up here the other morning for a 10-50 in York Co ... then was diverted to the helo pad at Charlotte-Douglas because fog and a working crane made the approach to the pad at CMC - Charlotte unsafe.
The third section of talkgroups I consider "general" in nature, although channels 60 and 61 (mutual aid and regional government tgs) are used occasionally. Someone indicated to me recently that the mutual aid tgs are statewide tgs, so I will probably expand this section to include all 10 talkgroups.
The fourth section is programmed in the scanner on the presumption one of those tgs might be put into use if something unplanned or unusual is going on in the area.
BTW - in looking over your past posts, Phillip, to determine what scanner you are using (a Pro 2052 ?), you asked about a statement I made about 154.830 / 127.3 as the input to 155.535 / 127.3 - a mutual aid channel.
The regional public safety dispatch facilities that had access to this channel had the option of working it in simplex mode on 155.535 MHz., or through the repeater via the input frequency (154.830 MHz). Most seemed to choose the first option. CMPD, when they use the net to communication with one of the S.C. dispatch facilities, has used the second (repeater) option.
