Well, download and install the Win96 software, (you'll need a programming cable) install the cable drivers.

Run Win96 and download the programming into Win96 that's in your scanner. Go to the section of the software where you enter the tables (picture below) change to re-banding choice, save your file, and upload the programming to your scanner. If the frequencies have changed you can do that in the frequency section of the software.

Thanks Steve but I am looking for someone that allready has this on a computer and can show me how to do this while the scanner is being programmed.I am wanting to take the scanners to someone in the Metro Indianapolis/Marion County,Central Indiana area that knows what they are doing. I do not know anything about Win96. All I need is for someone to go in and change the band plan and that is it. I also do not have the program or the cables that are needed for this. Thanks for your post.

Tim I don't know if they are the same in a pro96 as the PSR 500/600 but here is what my 500
say's in the Trunking Tables on the rebanded State system.

low ch hi ch offset base freq step
440 559 440 851.025000 25.000
0 719 0 851.012500 25.000
720 759 0 848.000000 25.000
815 831 0 846.625000 25.000
958 958 958 868.975000 25.000

Win96

Here are some screen shots of Win96 (see attachments). One of them is a screen shot of the general configuration for a bank, and the other is for the trunking tables. You will see that if you simply click the radio button next to "800 MHz Rebanded", the fields in the table will automatically populate with appropriate information for the the new Motorola Type II 800 MHz channel plan (rebanded channels).

This is a working configuration for S21 BOONE (SAFE-T Boone County simulcast cell). If you set yours up exactly like this, it will work.

Note that on the PRO-96 and PRO-2096, I only program one site per bank. I've never believed in using dummy channels and all that crap. This way I can select or deselect a site simply by selecting or deselecting a bank. Usually I only monitor one site anyway. This is a stationary radio, so I don't need half the state programmed into it.

Also, I should mention that my 96 and 2096 really suck on the MECA system unless you're right next to a site or in a building with a BDA that has it's antenna pointed right at a site. They even respond to channel grants for talkgroups not in the scan list and all kinds of other wacky stuff.

Thanks for the post, I am LOOKING for someone to program the scanner with the offsets.I have all the programming talkgroups done. All I need is the rebanding tables re-set. I do not have Win 96 on my computer nor do I have the cable. I am trying to find a a member that has EXPERIENCE in doing this to asist me in my area. I have no problems driving to meet someone to get this done. I will not download on my computer becuase I was reading that there has been a large amount of reports from the people that make Win 96 that computers have crashed when this is downloaded. This is th reason why I am looking for a local contact. I have sent several pm's out to members in the area for help.I would like to meet one of our members who has done this and can take care of my radios. I am not a download person and to program. I do all my programming by hand and I cannot do programming by hand on the Pro-96 or the Pro-2096.This is the reason why I am asking for help from others.Do we have anyone in the metro Indianapolis/Marion County central Indiana area that can help me do this task? Thank You.

Radio Programming Services

Sure! Here are my rates:

  • Engineering Services: Design and Build User-Specific Customized Template for PRO-96/PRO-2096/PSR-500/PSR-600: $85.00 Hour (Minimum Two Hours)
  • Technical Services: DSP Firmware Update: $50 (Per Occurrence)
  • Technical Services: CPU Firmware Update (PSR-500/PSR-600): $60 (Per Occurrence)
  • Technical Services: Update Trunking Tables (PRO-96/PRO-2096): $25 (Per Trunked Bank)
  • Technical Services: Update Trunking Tables (PSR-500/PSR-600): $35 (Per TSYS Object)
  • Technical Services: Program Trunked RF Channel: $5 (Each Occurrence)
  • Technical Services: Program Trunked Talkgroup: $8 (Each Occurrence)
  • Technical Services: Program Conventional RF Channel (Carrier Squelched): $5
  • Technical Services: Program Conventional RF Channel (Private Line/Digital Private Line): $8 (Each Occurrence)
  • Engineering Services: Build Scan List (PRO-96/PRO-2096): $50 (Each Bank)
  • Engineering Services: Build Scan List (PSR-500/PSR-600): $55 (Each List)
  • Technical Services: Load Template to Radio and Field Test: $50 Per Hour (Minimum One Hour)

So, for the average complete PRO-96 or PRO-2096 template, you're looking at a minimum of $170 in engineering costs for building a template, including 32 RF channels (8 SAFE-T sites @ 2 channels each, one MECA site @ 4 channels, and NPSPAC pre-reband and post-reband @ 10 channels in a conventional bank), which comes to $140. Talkgroups are $8 each, so you're looking at 150 talkgroups per bank (per trunked site) and nine banks will be trunked, so assuming you want everything programmed up that way, its a total of $10800 for all the talkgroups to be programmed. We'll update DSP to the most recent version available, which is $50. After that, we'll build the scan lists (sub banks) with talkgroups relevant to the site concerned, which is going to come to a total of $450 for nine trunked banks. It will also be necessary to update the trunking tables for eight of the sites (the SAFE-T sites), which will come to a total of $200. The final cost is the actual loading of the template into the radio and field testing in the desired service area, which is $50 per actual template upload. So my total estimate for a complete template build for you is $11860 not including tax. This is guaranteed to work and is complete with complimentary follow-up technical support.

If the only thing you want is updated trunking tables, I can do it for about $250 to $300, but I can't guarantee its going to work since I didn't build the template.

Since you have that many radios, you may be better off just buying the software and the cable. That way you can update them any time you like with no additional cost to you.
