BC125AT: need some help from all here

hi name is ray toth i have a bc125at live in des plaines il and some of channle i get a weird buz in back round of speaking resetting the radio with hold 2,9 and power on look like something with tower hitting not radio i didnt drop it keep it in a case i bought from scanner master all time whats going on and how i get it fixed if it the attenna or tower we hit to get what we hear thansk ray toth any input would help. look like not radio since i tryed reset factory and keep it in case

Hi Ray... so I think your problem is that your radio is a conventional, non trunking, non- digital radio. In Cook County you've got a lot of phase ll digital and DMR stuff... My guess is your hearing a lot of digital noise that your radio can't decipher.

For one thing, database states Des Plaines PD is encrypted meaning no (non-affiliated) receiver can pick them up. I'm guessing the VHF conventional frequencies listed are no longer in use or have been repurposed...
Fire (Stations 61-63) dispatched by RED Center on 155.4375 (225.7 PL). This should be receivable by your BC125AT...

I knew I should have looked at the database first before answering LOL. I just Winged It. Encryption will definitely make strange sounds on your radio in your hometown Ray.

The 125 receive range stops around 512 MHz, so the P25 system or encryption is not likely to be the issue. My 125 is good on what it is designed to receive but the local simulcast system has never caused a problem.
