Hello, I recently got a Bearcat III scanner. There is a frequency on it, 155.475. I dont know what it is, on the back it has names and the frequencies they cover but I cannot read the name. Can anybody help out? The number for the frequency is 6 on the channels.

In Illinois, 155.475 is known as ISPERN or Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network. I see it listed in Iowa as interop as well. Don't see a listing in Indiana or Wisconsin. (just took a quick look)

To my knowledge, all police agencies in Illinois monitor ISPERN. It's a statewide freq used to relay info about traffic stops that involve a person that has on outstanding warrant or is wanted for one thing or another. It is also used to put out info on Amber alerts, possible DUI's and other hazards involving wrong way drivers on expressways, a vehicle with no lights on when needed, etc.

Nice to know, I wonder if its also monitored in Indiana like it is in Illinois. And if it is still used to this day, since most agencies have switched over to digital encrpyion.

Illinois State Police has switched to STARCOM, the statewide system here, but they still use 155.475 (analog conventional) as interop. Not all agencies use STARCOM. And another note, most of STARCOM is not encrypted.

Atleast here in Indiana I dont know of a agency around me that uses conventional for their communications, police wise.

Same in my area. With the exception of fire/EMS tone-outs, if I hear anything on the pre-SAFE-T PS frequencies it's usually skip. I keep listening though, just in case...

I was just wondering. The Peru police in Illinois have been using 155.790 for as long as I can remember. Thought there might be a correlation to that and 155.475.

Well the peru police base is 155.13 and the peru police car is 154.89

Pretty sure Peru PD is on SAFE-T, not encrypted.

I agree with everyone else ILEEN (Indiana Law Enforcement Emergency Network) is a nationwide interoperability frequency. Just like 155.370 (Point-to-Point). Both of these were used prior to SAFE-T. The way I understood it, Point was used for base station-to-base station radio traffic; county's calling neighboring counties and ISP to local warrant checks, and for assistance with calls, etc. ILEEN was used for mobile units to call other mobile units when they didn't have each other's home channels, or for mobile units to call ISP or other counties dispatch centers. When SAFE-T initially rolled out counties were told to continue to use Point (155.370) for county-to-county communications, but over time most traffic on Point and ILEEN moved over to Regional Mutual Aid #1 channels.
