turn the squelch up to 2...

I've already adjusted the squelch. Adjusting it further than needed to keep it from making static constantly doesn't help. I still get static instead of talking. It's not a constant static, only when there should be talking/transmission.

Sounds very much like you don't have the system programmed correctly. When listening to a TRS, you should *never* hear static. The scanner will sit on the control channel and only move to a voice channel when there is a grant.

Do you have all six frequencies programmed as conventional?

Where are you located? Are you even in range of Site 6? The actual location of that site is in Watervliet, not Troy.

Let's try this again by creating a new system with just the basics.

Menu > Program System > New System > EDCS > WIDE/NARROW

Edit Site > New Site > Set Site Type > Wide(Standard)

Set Frequencies > New Frequency > 855.2375 > Input LCN > 1
(Repeat for the rest of the frequencies/LCN's)

Set Modulation > FM

Edit Sys Option > ID Scan/Search > ID Search

I'm located in N Troy, no more than 5 miles away from Watervliet.

I created the site/system as you directed. The only thing I couldn't do is set modulation. I will try that.
