Frank, I'm not using a USB hub, just one of the 3 ports on my laptop. Usually it's port 6. I sent Remtronix an email yesterday detailing my issues. Hopefully, I'll hear something back today or tomorrow.

Okay, good luck. BTW, I just updated my copy of the Clone Utility from Version 2.03 to Version 3.04 with the result that 3.04 works just as well as the older 2.03 did. In fact, I really can't see any significant difference between the two versions.

Also, not that I can read Japanese (I fake it), but last night I visited the Alinco Japan Web site and saw that the latest firmware available for download for the DJ-X11J was version 2.60, same as on the U.S. site. There's no mention on the Japan site of a version 2.80.

And although the latest available version of the Control Panel program on the Japan site is 0.9.4, which is the same as on the U.S. site, the latest version of the Clone Utility program is 3.02. I don't know whether 3.02 was ever made available for download from the U.S. site.

Again, assuming that you installed the correct driver for your version of Windows, I think that the problem is either with your USB port or perhaps you have a defective ERW-8 cable or a defective EDC-174 charger/base.

Regards,

Frank.

Great it works for everyone but me! Jeesh. Remtronix has no idea what is going on. They have successfully read and written to a radio with firmware 2.80 with Utility 3.04. I just sent them photos of the radio, the connection to the computer, and screen shots of the COM port settings. Maybe they can figure something out from them.

Tony, what's up with this Jeesh stuff?

You have to realize that by being, of all of the many owners of the various models of the fine Alinco DJ-X11portable wideband receiver, the only one on this entire planet who can't get their computer to talk to their radio makes you special!

And when you're special, you don't say Jeesh.

Okay?

Now with that out of the way...

I'm pleased to know that REMTronix was willing to try to help you, given that they're the authorized US/Canada importer/distributor. Usually end-user complaints/problems/issues need to be handled by the reseller.

I still stand with my previous statement that as long as the proper driver is correctly installed, the problem is either USB port, cable, or base/charger related.

Given that you appear to have done everything else correctly and in accordance with Alinco's instructions, I don't know what else to suggest to you except trying a different USB port, or even a different computer entirely, if that's a possibility.

Ha Ha, too funny. I needed a good laugh. But, I don't want to be special, I just want to be a regular person. With that said, Remtronix has been great. I don't know if we'll get this fixed, but the support is there and I would recommend anyone with Alinco troubles to contact Remtronix.

I got it! I'm not special anymore! I'm now just a regular guy with working 3.04 Clone Utility. I was powering the radio on in clone mode. It seems the ERW-8 cable does not use clone mode.

OK, here's another question. How do I choose the bank I want to scan in a single bank scan? I'm sorry, I may be missing this in the manual.

Jeesh, everyone knows that! Clone mode is for when you're cloning from one radio to another (that's why it's called Clone mode).

Anyway, glad to know that you've got it working.

Take care, and enjoy.

I have an 11T,
and it is an -alright- scanning device.
--comparison here--
my furuno SSB / FS 1502
will scan without any squelch or RF Gain.
The Alinco will not..
If it hears 1 little piece of static,
it will stop scanning.
Then, you have to adjust the squelch or RF Gain..
The Alinco has a bad speaker for real staticcy freqs. HF..
you need an ear piece to hear what is behind the static..
it does wonders in the aviation band--with correct antenna...
I won't sell it,
cause it has a good signal stalker.
( F-TUNE )
%90 of what I know--I learned with the help of the Alico.
Now--the Furuno scans what I want,
and the Alinco is for verifying strong signals.
And not having the 7.50 mhz step, sux!!
I won't reccomend this product to anyone that hate's the info mentioned above.
But--if someone want's to buy 1,
I hope they know what they are/not getting.
It won't be long before the 11T and E are considerred--
a dinosaur, yesterday's technology, some would say junk..
But, even junk has it's place.
THAT'S my thought's / experience...

programmed mode

Am I right in assuming I cannot do a progammed scan from 49.5 MHz to 49.99 MHZ because the sub band B does not receive in any band but the 2 meter and 70cm band

Help please.

Read through and through here and maybe expecting too much from Clone Utility v3.04

I purchased the Alinco DJ X11E a week ago now. Really wanted to programme via laptop. I can connect as I should no problem.

My question is this. When I hit the read all tab I get 1 frequency only in Bank 00 002 that is in memory tab.

If I sit here with radio connected to laptop for over 30 minutes I can only read 1 memory yet if I highlight the next channel number read, I get the frequency I have entered so on so on I read 40 odd frequencies I have inputted through key pad.

It is too long winded though and I would rather upload a lot more than through radio.

So is it normal for Clone Utility v3.04 to act like this? Like I said, I press read all and nothing seems to happen.
