Wow!
I did not expect AOR to come out with a new radio.
I will be interested to see what "improved RF stage" really means.
Lets hope it sees production!

DV-1 had a terrible RF performance so anything done to it will be an improvement.
Too bad that AOR ignores and even lie to their users and have zero user support.
DV-1 where a $1.500+ receiver so this one will not sell any cheaper.
Hopefully firmware updates will be free and can be done by the user like for the DV-1 and not needing it to be shipped to japan.

AOR $2000…I can wait for others to see if it has bugs. Even then I would wait for used market…and see if it even ranks on Sherwood’s list.

I think the first one in the US should be immediately sent to Rob Sherwood for testing. I sent him my R8600 and its listed on his site along with his personal unit.

Why would they release such a product in 2025 without trunk tracking capabilities (which I'm assuming it still won't have, like all their existing products)? Does it perform exceedingly at something very specific like air band? Seems pretty odd to me.

It's $1,500 in Japan so not that much different to DV-1. It has D-Star, NXDN, Tetra, P25Phase1, DMR.
It can do 100KHz to 3GHz and have one antenna port.

@natedawg1604 - It is a receiver, not a scanner.

I doubt I will purchase it. I have an Icom R30 and others receivers, scanners and transceivers that handle my needs now. The all-in-one can be a good solution…if one owns several to avoid missing traffic.

A part the frequency coverage, the case and display colors, to me it look like the AR-DV1... but let'see more in detail the technical spec.

I am interested in the IF Output and IQ Output options. I would consider replacing my AR-DV1 if there is good improvement in the RF front end.

There is one thing I have never understood about AOR receivers: the display. For such an extravagant
price the displays look terrible. Granted the last AOR I personally owned was many years ago (AR-8000) and all I
have to go on is images & videos but their displays look hard to read.
Take The AR-DV1. It is a small orange display where the numbers looked "squished" together.
The display above looks a little better but if I am going to pay $$$$ then I want an easy to read large display.
I mean I can't be the only one that has issues with how AOR handles their displays right?

That display is awful. Does AOR not do acceptance testing at all and if so, do the testers all have bad eyesight ? Even my AR-8600 has a better display than this. Why not a OLED color display with clear fonts ? maddening ... maybe it's a Japanese thing as my Icom-R30's display is quite pitiful for such a pricey receiver.

It remains to be seen if this is yet another bug-ridden receiver from AOR and will they dig their heads in once again when problems arise ? I'm actually interested to know if there are any improvements with shortwave reception and especially SSB fine tuning.
