• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi Hive mind and happy new year!
Has anyone run into any of the low cost brands which include pseudo trunk (obviously aside from Hytera)? Looking for alternatives that can work alongside Hyteras. I have found the Abbrree AR-880 (which not only looks like a hytera copy but also has a CPS which looks like a hytera copy and does include Pseudo trunk) but am also looking for something simpler (no or limited keypad, no or simple display). In Hytera, its an alternate to a S1 Pro or BP515.
I have one AR-880 on order to have a test of that too.

Interested to hear if anyone has any other brands I should look at.

Try Belfone / BFDX they are a Chinese manufacturer of complete LMR systems, I use their mobile SFR repeaters which include Pseudo trunk, as do their T3 mobiles and portables and quite likely their T2 non keypad portables (BF-TD520) do as well but you need to confirm ?. Price point is similar if not slightly higher then your Abbree option but they will be better hardware quality. They do not retail to the public for small orders but they have some very responsive resellers through the regular channels who provide hardware, software and accessories to get you up and running. Interesting you obtained Abbree CPS with ease Ive heard reports of plenty selling hardware but not software for that specific model. Hytera PD4 and PD5 should also offer Pseudo Trunk but only on later generations of hardware V2 higher. I have a large fleet of PD4 and 50% support it and 50% don’t due to an upgrade of internal memory capacity / ROM over the years. Same applies to encryption options.

Thanks for the response. I have a few Hytera PD3 (which had the same limitations on ROM with some supporting Pseudo and some not). I have been keeping an eye out for cheap second hand PD radios but no real luck yet.

I had seen the Belfone SFR but always struggled to find any distributors of them in Europe.

BF-TD520 is the kind of thing I am looking for to fill some of my gap (if it does Pseudo trunk) but I can't find it here other than Alibaba, which I have had poor experiences with (unlike alliexpress). Not sure why but belfone doesn't seem easy to get here.

The Abbree is working in terms of Pseudo trunk. It isn't doing SMS with Hytera and priority interrupt doesnt work but the main things seem to. I still have no source of spare batteries or microphone accessories for it though.

I have found out that the BP515 and 565 are now compatible with the Hytool bluetooth programming app, which is a big plus point for me but the Abbree price is currently hard to beat when I need to fill a gap of 8 radios.

Ok, in Europe, DMR LMR brands Excera and Abell which are also both of Chinese origin may be options and are sold and supported more locally to you. Belfone BFDX, Ali Express or in my case has been eBay (ensure you filter search results LOCATION > WORLWIDE as its generally on DEFAULT and returns far fewer options.

Wonderful, thanks for the suggestions. I had never seen those two brands before. Looks like there is a Polish Excera distributor, so will see if I can get cost options from them.
