I was checking the new FCC grants for Cape May County and noticed new license WRCY692 for Cape May County for 155.49/158.97 which was the dispatch channel for Lower Township PD prior to them going to the NJCIS. The location is the preexisting tower just off Seashore Road on Cape May Island just south of the bridge over the canal. The note states it is for "Regional Police Communications". With Cape May County Towns migrating to the NJCIS and with new County 700mhz licenses I thought this was a bit unusual. Anyone have any knowledge of the purpose for this? Could it be to link Cape May City PD which is still on high band to the County Communications Center? Or perhaps a patch to the NJCIS for Cape May City?

All the above:rolleyes:?
I would assume it could be a backup frequency (Channel) to NJICS???

Lower Pd vhf channel is now licensed by County Communications at the new location. They will be keeping it to use when needed and as back up if the system goes down.

Thanks! The new location at the south end of Lower Twp is what threw me, as I have visited the area for close to 20 years and the high band system seemed to work well with the existing transmitter site with a strong signal in Cape May City.

Any idea if it’s going to be one of the “cape comm” frequencies such as 156.210 and 155.190?

I have talked to a person closely affiliated with the system and like in othe counties Cape May County is keeping 156.2100 and 155.1900 as backup and a way to communicate towns still on VHF like Cape May CITY . ALSO a few firefighters that are on NJTF-1 have dual band radios to communicate with the county
