• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I do not recall seeing this brand before, but this looks ok, for a CCR. I do wonder about the usual stuff for the class of radio.

I started watching that video, but stopped a few minutes in.
  • It's advertised as a quad-band radio, but one of the bands is 350-390 MHz. Is that band used for amateur radio anywhere in the world?
  • It's advertised as a 10 watt radio, but the tester in the referenced video got a maximum of 5.7 watts.
  • It's advertised as a 16 channel radio. That's seriously falling short of expectations in today's amateur radio world. But, the owner's manual shown in the video says 256 channels. The nearly 20-year-old Yaesu FT-60 has 1000 channels.
  • Shipping with an antenna only marked for UHF seems like a mistake.
  • The color display is interesting, but difficult to read because the digits have been crammed together with almost no spacing in between.
  • Yet another handheld radio with the "0" key in the "wrong" position. This is an OCD thing with me.
  • Searching for the CMIIT ID yields no results on two different CMIIT search sites.
  • $70 from Banggood? No way! A "legal" Baofeng GT-5R from Radioddity is $27.
Sorry. This radio is a "hard pass" for me.

Whomever moved this to the correct forum, thanks! (I couldn't find it, with the brief search I had time to do.)

In the video the label on the radio says Quanzhou NuoSiDa Electronics Co., Ltd. Try searching for that.

Oh for the love of god, we're up to 20 watts now on a 7.5v batt??? There's no boundaries anymore. I'm waiting for them to completely lose not like it hasn't already and promise 35 watts. Why just 20? Surely they're missing out on sales if they don't say 35 watts

Ah, yes, YouTube "influencers".

Do they not understand that 4 watts from a cheap, Chinese radio disguised as a Yaesu is the same as 4 watts from an unknown cheap, Chinese radio? Same for receive sensitivity. Two radios with the same measured sensitivity will, most likely, perform the same in the field. These field tests are completely pointless.

And, to bolster the YouTube influencer's reputation, you have fawning comments on the video like this:
"Great video as always. It’s good to see a comparison with another radio, which you should keep as a constant going forwards."
"Excellent vid Lewis. It just shows you that some of these ‘other’ makes of radio are coming up trumps where quality is concerned. It’s nice to have the ‘premium’ brand, but at the end of the day, it’s the performance that counts."
"Nice video, I didn’t have much hope for it when you zoomed in on it at first the Radio body looks bloody awful, It did well though. Just shows you it’s what’s inside that counts."

I want to see this radio on a spectrum analyzer.

A review of this on Banggood says the radio is basically the Radtel RT-490 / Socotran 8629 / JJCC 8629 in a new more modern looking case with the new USB-C battery

OH yes!

It will put out 35W.
Only trouble is; the battery will only last on transmit for milliseconds before it needs recharging.

BTW, have they mentionrd that the antenna will melt at 35W ouput?o_O

If it was half the price I might buy one, because I do not need it. Unfortunately, they did not use the word "tactical" in their sales points, so no dinero from me. ( I think I just stumbled onto the amateur radio operators theme song, 'cause we know who the she is in that song )

This is another video listed on banggood.com.
Looks like $70
Banggood LOL. Me love you long time.

I spent some time tracking these down on the FCC database and a screen caping off a Russian teardown of the Radtel. Here's what I learned:

The only one of these clones that has any FCC approval is the JJCC-8629 and it is mfg. by Math Mark (Fujian) the owner of the designs for FJ-8629. It is approved as a Part 15, Class B Digital Device. Their approval is for their models JC-8629 and JC-8630 with the declaration that only the outer skin is different between 8629 and 8630. FCC filed Internal Photos show mfg dates (2020Sep16 both boards)

A look at the Internal PCB photos reveals a lot.
- Built with the same radio's PCB's is the SocoTran FB-8629 (PCB's mfg. 2020Sep16). This model has Bluetooth but not USB charging.

- JJCC's most recent PCB's can be found inside the updated PCB's version engraved 8630 and sold as the Radtel RT-490 (Xiamen Radtel Electronics) (PCB's mfg 2021Jan30 and 2021May7) Model has Bluetooth but not USB charging. Programming software for all these clones can be found at Radtel.com. There's the Android apk to load the bluetooth programming app and the PC software WLT2000 that is useful until CHIRP gets updated for the Radtel RT-490. Radtel has everything but no USB Charging.

- No internal photos are available for the Jianpai 8800 Plus and no FCC records exist for their OEM Quanzhou NuoSida electronics. The JianPai is the only one of the bunch that has the USB-C charging as evidenced by youtuber Johnex on the Banggood website.

- ABBREE AR-F8 appears to have the same skin but no tear downs were available to see the PCB's. ABBREE AR-F8 and it’s twin FASTCOM FC-6B, Do not have USB-C and Do not have Bluetooth. Both were marketed prior to 2019 so they appear to be older than current JJCC clones. The ABBREE online manual's setting descriptions follow almost exactly to the online manual that JJCC submitted to the FCC for their FB-8629/30 certification. The Abbree does not have the USB-Charging and it looks like they can somewhat be programmed using the Radtel RT-490 software available at Radtel.

If you check the FCC database for Math Mark you can see all their filings and the only look alike is the JJCC FB-8629. It is my opinion that Math Mark Fujian is selling components to other manufacturers and most likely Quanzhou NuoSida has purchased same and modified to add the USB-C charging. Of note, the only radio that lists an FCC ID is the JJCC JC-8629, others show the international ID 'CMIIT ..." ID.

Looks like that radio has a patent-infringing feature on it as well. The USB-C charge port with the charge indicator is covered under a US patent and is not licensed to to them.

Abbree AR-869 and Jainpai 8800 Plus are the only 2 of the clones sold with the USB-C battery modification. All of the others utilize the legacy power base/cradle that is shipped with a country specific wall plug adapter. Although any of the radios could use that USB-C battery if it were available as an accessory, as of now it is only available when shipped as part of the Abbree or Jainpai packaged version.

Finally a clear English review (not mine, just though it was good) Radtel RT-490 2-Way Radio Review (British)
