New emergency radio system makes Walton County residents safer

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. -- Walton County's first responders will be able to communicate more efficiently with one another and between agencies thanks to an upgrade to the new 800 MHz statewide radio system, which is scheduled to be operational within the next two weeks, according to Fire Manager Eddie Rivers of Walton County Fire Rescue.
