New External Speakers

Hi Everyone =
We have had a lot of requests for us to carry additional antenna and external speaker options come through on our scannersuggestions email address.
I apologize for the delay but we took our time to test A LOT of options and decided to carry these two speakers:

2.25" External Speaker

3.5" x 2" External Speaker

I made a post on Friday regarding the antenna options that we have decided to offer as well. Not all speakers and antennas are created equal even though they may look similar. Our engineers have taken their time to select the best options for you.

Both of the speakers listed are very common after-market speakers that more than a few companies have attached their names to. They are ok for very affordable and good sounding speakers unless one wants to venture into hi-fidelity speakers. The longer speakers I have on my desk with the Icom brand name on them, and the smaller speakers I also have on my desk with Yaesu stamped on them. Both good quality speakers, your engineers chose well! If I did not already own them I would buy them!

Even Motorola has it with different model numbers and the one below are RSN-4003. I have several of the same type. The oldest ones have some very solid cabinette, what looks like wood and are heavy, but the newer ones are plastic light weighted and don't sound as good.

that's exactly how we used to sort them coming out of the decommissioned units. Heavy ones stayed, lighter ones recycled.

Hmmm, the 3.5"x2" might be interesting to discreetly mount (a pair) under the dash of a vintage VW for stereo sound without mucking up the footwell panels. Nice.

As for the 3.5" x 2", Kenwood had them - KES-3(S) and I have 4 for my two dual banders and they do sound good with the dual banders but I am not happy with them on my scanner... As UBBE said, the 4 I have are the heavier ones.

The Motorola version of this style (HSN8145BA) is 8 ohm, the Kenwood KES-3(S) was 4 ohm. Just because the housing is very similar doesn't mean they're the same.
