It CAN'T be TDMA because they are NOT replacing any subscribers.

I'll save you some trouble, what you see today will be working tomorrow. No need to change your scanner except for one control channel and a 6 talkgroups.

To translate what the last post by AES-256 was trying to tell you is, that any new talkgroups you capture are being created for testing only and will be deleted once the system is live. And what he meant by his post is that the TGIDs on the new system will all be the same as are on the old system, nothing new is being created or changed due to the new system.

Well that's nice. Makes it easier for everybody I would think.

I think that Fairfax switching has to do with the FCC. I think the FCC told all of public safety to switch to P25 systems by a certain date. That is why Arl Co,Alex City and others in the metro area are changing to the P25 FULLY. Can be FMDA or TMDA but P25 all the way.

Where are you hearing this from?

There is no mandate from the FCC to force any agency to go to a P25 system. The only mandate is to narrow band the VHF and UHF operations by January 01, 2013.

The only mandate being pushed is the radio vendors trying to make a fast buck on the stupid public safety agencies that believe everything the radio vendors say. They can make more money off of the P25 radios.
