Info is off the KFIZ AM1450 website.

The City of Fond du Lac is establishing a new citywide communications system. It will connect police, fire, public works, area transit as well as the school district. The improved system is already in use by the police and fire departments. Fond du Lac Fire Chief Joe Clow says the the new powerful antenna and updated radio repeaters eliminate dead spots in the city and rural areas of the county. Police Chief Tony Barthuly says the new communications system already is helping his officers communicate between each other and other agencies.

Anyone have anymore information on this new radio system?

Conventional or Trunked?

Is this new radio system conventional or trunked? The news story isn't clear on that.

It's conventional. I'm about 30 miles east of FDL, I can clearly hear the DPW on 155.0550 306 DCS and just barely hear the Police on 155.7300 703 DCS. I haven't heard anything on the Fire Frequency.

I'm at the very north end of the Fox River Valley for part of the year and I can monitor Fondy PD on 155.730 from here using a BC855XLT and a 3db omni at 59 feet high. Scratchy but they break carrier squelch at 1/2 travel. As a comparison, the county on 155.625 comes in up here like a local.

Any idea on what FDL is doing with this new frequency: 151.2950
The ARC250 has been monitoring this frequency all day without any hits.

The callsign notes says it is or will be used to cordinate transit operations. Hopes this helps.

There is no "new radio system". There is just a new monopole tower at the police station that replaces the old downtown watertower transmitter site. Their frequencies and usage have not changed.

If thats the case, the media sure played this news story up. Besides the Fond du Lac Reporter, at least two radio stations KFIZ & WHBL were reporting Fond du Lac had a new communications system monday morning.
