Does anyone know when this switch will take place? As of now all police zones and fire/ems are still on 500 MHz. I haven't heard a pep on the frequencies listed above.

New Radios have been ordered and received by Police Departments who needed them (Older Kenwoods could not handle the band spread). Many have been installed in cars and they are waiting on the Communications center.

Not sure if fire and ems are affected but they will be included when the new trunking system is implemented maybe in 1-2 years.

I'm hearing traffic on these now. It seems Zone 2 and Zone 3 have made their switch. The new repeaters do not reach out as well as the 508MHz repeaters. The signals are significantly weaker here in Medford. Zone 2 is using the above llisted frequency with a DCS 205 and Zone 3 is using the above listed frequency with DCS 306

I wonder if that's because they are NFM, or if the repeaters are just running at a lower output power...

They are running less power because they were issued a provisional (temporary) license for these frequencies.

These are also used in Middlesex County, which isn't that far north as well as a host of other counties within 90 miles of Gloucester County, NJ.

The "NFM" will add a slight hiss to some scanners and the audio will be much lower than you're probably use to. In addition, the narrow bandwidth makes decoding the PL/DPL a little more difficult because you will need a great signal to decode given the lower amplitude of the overall signal. Not impossible, but difficult; especially if you are searching for them at a distance.

West Deptford PD while searching for a perp, were complaining about low audio on the new channel. Units could not hear dispatch or other units clearly. Dispatch said the units were loud sometimes and low other times. This was about 5 min ago. Guess they gotta get the bugs out .

The joys of narrowband analog audio... Perhaps they will make the move to P25 digital with AGC enabled; the Fed's use it with much better results.

Zone 5 appears to be online now with a DCS of 503. I heard radio testing last night until 11pm or so. I'm also hearing the other new channels better now. Unknown why, nothing changed on my end.
