For some reason Z (Zee's) are somewhat hard to say, on the other hand one of the guys in our group, who has a Z, in his call often uses Zed instead. So Zed Gee Zed might be a little easier.

Z followed by G sounds awful, I've gotten in the habit of using phonetics for the second part: "Zulu golf zulu"

Something you might think about. No matter how 'odd various combinations of letter may seem, they get more 'familiar' with usage. If the owner of those odd calls are interesting, then those 'odd' calls get more 'un-odd' over time. While it's not a super good idea to use 'custom' phonetics, 'personallized' phonetics are certainly very common. Of course, that depends on who you are talking to, you know? Same laguage users can 'accommodate'/understand more obscure references. Some can't/don't. Sorry 'bout that, that's the way it is. My suffix is 'LZ', Lima Zulu. Or 'loose Zipper', or 'Lazy Zebra'. It may not be the -correct- phonetics, but I'll bet you remember it, and that's the whole point. I once worked an 'IIP' call sign. He used 'Icky Icky Poo'. Tell me you wouldn't remember that! Nothing wrong with that in casual conversation, not so 'correct' for 'formal' communications, whoopy!

I'll check it out soon, is there a PL tone?

He is referring to my Echolink node in South Cobb county. It's actually a DPL of 465.

It is linked to my wide area coverage UHF analog repeater in Marietta on 443.45. The repeater is down right now due to some annoying noise problem, plan to make a site visit this weekend to fix it.

Congrats on your new ticket! Welcome to ham radio.

Being a storm chaser and Skywarn spotter, I've set up a mobile rig (2M) and picked up an HT (also 2M

Have you checked your area to make sure the nets will be on 2M? If you're going to be spotting I would recommend a dual band radio 2M/440.

Congrats on getting your ticket though!
