The New Hanover County / Wilmington system is experiencing some problems as I type this. Units are complaining of not being able to transmit and getting garbled reception. Units in the southern end of the county appear to be having the most problems but some of the city PD units are having problems also. In fact, Wilmington PD is operating off of a talkgroup on the GE plant system in Castle Hayne and some other units are operating off of the New Hanover Regional Medical Center system. Both systems are Motorola Type II and are currently not in the RR database (I'll fix that tomorrow when I get home.) I find that it is novel that the county system has this type of backup with private systems but, when I think about it, other than VIPER, the closest 800 mhz systems to here are Jacksonville/Onslow County and Horry County SC, so I guess that's why they built it that way.
