* Please read "Software & Firmwareupdate information" (3.45MB) thoroughly and make sure what is required for the firmware update.
* When your receiver is already connected to the PC and it work normally, the USB driver is not necessary to update. If you would like to update the USB driver with new one, you have to delete the previous USB driver in your PC then you should install the new USB driver.
* Never turn off the receiver power while the updating is being performed.
* Save the setting data and memory data of your receiver before performing the software and firmware update.
* Control software (Ver. 2.10) and firmware software (Ver. 2.10) must be updated at the same time when the receiver software is updated.

------------

P25 coverage extended?
Does this eliminate the need to modify the receiver to scan above 700Mhz?

This would be good to know . Has it always been possible then just with a firmware update?

Do we not need to remove the diode anymore?

Here we go again with this "flawed gem". It will be interesting to see what happens with those of us that have done the hardware mod already. I'll give it a try asap.

Unfortunately this stupidity is not fixable.

Fortunately...whenever rebanding is complete (probably after the life cycle of the radio :D) it won't be an issue.

I haven't applied it yet, Vince, but as you know I did the diode mod. Hopefully the firmware update isn't freaked out by that. I'll find out soon enough I guess.

Anyone who listens to the Blue Collar Comedy Tour would know that "you can't fix stupid."

I entered the San Francisco site 1 system in P25 mode. It took all frequencies (868.9 highest) without any problems. This is the only system (in my area) that will or has the potential to broadcast P25 in the upper 868 MHz.
Before my Icom would not let me enter frequencies above 760mhz. so, I have to say at this point the firmware upgrade worked.
I know stupid Icom. I hope this isn't the last of the firmware and software upgrades. I'm sure you heard from palacemuseum? Anywho, maybe this will spark new interest in Eric to "poke" around again?

Regards

Well, coverage in the US version ends at 866.9875, so the currently crucial 867.000 - 868.9875 section of the NPSPAC band is not available. The "palacemuseum" version was unblocked. Of course after rebanding NPSPAC will be in the 851-854 range, and the current NPSPAC frequencies will belong to Nextel, so any PCR2500 will have "full" coverage in that regard. It's just absurd that they don't now.

As Dave says...

But, they're still great radios for all of their flaws. I'll report back after I apply the firmware.

I hope it works out for you. Yes, still a great radio. Presently, I'm monitoring local PD and at the same time recording P25 from SF. :) How better can it get from one radio?

OK Folks..
Eager (and nervous) about this new update.
I have the "placemuseum" unblocked 2500, and already did the diode mod.
Any ideas on how this 2500 will react with this update??

I believe all of us are waiting for your findings and instructions to all of the modifications you have found in this great radio. Can you let us know when you are going to post? TIA

Please clarify

Can someone please clarify this thread...is the new Icom firmware/software compatible with the diode removal mod or are we awaiting an update from nravid about some problem that was found.

Thanks for the info. I have been using the original control software with Vista for months now without any problems. I'm using 2.0 firmware and have been hesitant to update given the problems reported with the 2.01 version. What will I gain with this latest version? I'm using a Canadian/unblocked, diode modified R2500. Recommendations?
