Hiawatha National Forest

Located in Michigan's wild and scenic Upper Peninsula, the Hiawatha National Forest's dramatic shorelines lie nestled up to Lakes Superior, Huron and Michigan -- three of the five great lakes. Our lakeshores, lighthouses, islands and abundant snow create a place of respite and play within a day's drive of urban and rural areas of Michigan, Wisconsin, other nearby states and international locations. The Forest Supervisors Office in Gladstone, MI. This National Forest has 3 Ranger Districts, the Munising in Munising, MI, the Rapid River/Manistique in Rapid River, MI and the St. Ignace/Sault Ste. Marie Ranger District in St. Ignace, MI. Dispatching is provided by the Michigan Interagency Dispatch Center located in the Forest Supervisors Office of the Huron-Manistee National Forest in Cadillac, Michigan. The center identifies as "Cadillac."

Huron-Manistee National Forest

Lying between the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron in the northern half of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, is the nearly one-million-acre Huron-Manistee National Forests. The Forests offer year-around motorized and non-motorized recreation opportunities. Most popular are the trails and campgrounds along four nationally designated Wild and Scenic Rivers such as the Pine, Manistee, Au Sable and Pere Marquette.

The Forests management team of botanists, biologists, archeologists, fire, timber, and silvicultural specialists manage for health, harvest, prescribed burns and endangered/sensitive species habitat. The HMNF is host to such species as the Kirtland’s Warbler, Piping Plover, Karner Blue Butterfly and Pitcher’s Thistle.

The Forest Supervisors Office is in Cadillac, MI with 4 Ranger Districts: Baldwin/White Cloud in Baldwin, MI; Cadillac/Manistee in Wellston, MI; the Huron Shores Ranger Station and Tawas and Harrisville Ranger Districts in Oscoda, MI; and the Mio in Mio, MI. Like the rest of the National Forests in Michigan dispatching services are provided by "Cadillac."

Ottawa National Forest

The one million acres of the Ottawa National Forest are located in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The forest extends from the south shore of Lake Superior to the Wisconsin border. The area is rich in wildlife viewing opportunities; breathtaking views of rolling hills dotted with lakes, rivers and waterfalls; and spectacular fall colors. But you have to see it to believe it - come visit the Ottawa! The Forest Supervisors Office is in Ironwood, MI. There are 5 Ranger Districts: the Kenton in Kenton, MI; the Ontonagon in Ontonagon, MI; the Bessemer in Ironwood, MI; and the Watersmeet/Iron River in Watersmeet, MI. This National Forest is dispatched by "Cadillac" like the remainder of the National Forests in Michigan.
