Berkeley Heights Fire (Union County) being seen and heard on NJICS after a long absence. Two Tone paging as well on the TG, Dispatch pair 727/1185. Some RID’s and some patched traffic. Dispatch and response by Union County 2400.

4637 (UC Fireground 10/Union County)

I can confirm as I am a dispatcher for Union County. We had to Patch UCF9 with BH UFH due to a new tower coming up and test.

Thanks for that. Springfield occupies FG 9 for sometime. FG10 and FG1 were the only unused of the FG group. BH on 10. FG1 now remains largely unused. New sub- site been on the air from monopole at high school for a while.

Hi guys !! Its been a while..I only have one question? The Newark Police Department migrated here but does the TE mean what I think it means??!! Like I stated I'm a tad rusty and I read that some people here stated that they would eventually go encrypted.

hey all,

So I just bought the uniden bcd325p2. I live in Salem county and they just switched to phase 2. the scanner works well for their system, but for the NJICS system is where I have a problem. even when right near a tower it tells me "finding control channel". from my research I've come to the conclusion that the bcd325p2 isn't good for multiple site simulcasting. (forgive me if it's not the correct terminology)

so my question is for a everyone who has the bcd536hp or the sds100, which would be the best to listen to the NJICS system.

thank you all in advance for any and all help on the matter

If you are trying to listen to a simulcast location then you will need the SDS 100. The NJICS is a hybrid of single tower and simulcast sites.

To add to this comment, any SDS series scanner should perform well on NJICS. The other option is to isolate the nearest tower using a directional (yagi) antenna if you want to try and make your current scanner work. The drawback to that is you really wouldn't be able move the scanner or listen to other systems in different directions.

Years ago I brought my then new Uniden 325P2 to Atlanta on a trip in which I was staying in an upper floor room with a great view. I wasn't familiar with the simulcast issues and couldn't understand with the scanner wouldn't lock onto a control channel for the City of Atlanta P25p2 system. After a number of failed reprograms and double checks I did some searching and learned about simulcast issues. I finally picked up some transmissions on the system by placing the scanner in the bathroom sink with the antenna stuck down the drain.

Uniden SDS scanners work great on the NJICS, and on all other P25p2 systems I've monitored.
