Welcome to the group. I have always wanted to visit your side of the pond. I may yet do so.

Here is what started it all for me. My great uncle gave it to me when I was 6 in 1966. I had a lot of fun with it and learned a lot.

Hello, not sure if this is the correct forum, but I have just joined and would like to say "Hello!". I'm retired (74) and have an interest in vintage multi band radios. I'm in Devon, UK. Thank you, Ian.
Hi Bingle, not sure if this may be of interest to you, but check out some of the items up for auction on this site, the first 5 or 6 pages are vinyl albums but there’s some nice vintage radio equipment further along towards the end of the catalog.

Hi Steve and thank you for taking the trouble to let me know about the auction. Some interesting albums to browse through and a good selection of radios / hi components etc. Poole is a bit too far for me to casually visit, and I tend to follow auction houses around Devon and, especially, Exeter, where there are 3 / 4 alone! I note that this particular auction house has "chosen not to publish their results". It's always nice to be able to follow up and see what things actually sold for! Anyway, good to make your acquaintance! Best Wishes, Ian.

Greetings, BingleUK, and welcome. Check out the list of forums on RR, there are probably a few that you will be interested in.

There are many members like you. I'm 74 and started listening to various bands when I was around ten yeas old. My first radio was a floor model tri-band: AM broadcast, FM broadcast, and shortwave (probably 30 ~ 40 meters). From there my interest kind of exploded to all bands and services, but I still enjoy tuning around on every band to see what I can find. I'm currently chasing nighttime signals on AM broadcast, and searching VHF low band for 'skip' signals.

Those old radios are fun, but it's hard to nail down exactly what frequency you're hearing unless there's a way to ID the station.

Good luck.
