Happy Friday everyone!
It's coming time to look at the future of ScannerLive. I wrote it 7 years ago, and it'll need a major rewrite to make it work with the new API.
I'm torn on what to do. As a listener, I don't use it anymore. I'm exclusively a Call Playlist user so not sure if the investment in time to recode just about literally everything is going to be worth the effort.
What I am testing now should keep it alive for RR subscribers who have access to the static URL of "traditional" streams. It's not pretty, but I'm sure it'll work.
But I need to know what sort of interest there is in remaking this entire platform. What do you use it for that can't be duplicated with the RR Player and/or Bcfy Calls? If I try to add the Calls API, what would you utilize in a different way than what the Playlists offer?
And as you make your case, realize that while I'm not going to charge your first-born
it's not going to be $19 if I move ahead (the update to keep it running will be free for existing users.)
Thoughts?
