I listened this morning for a little while.
Each call is announced with some distinctive tones - the given info is - apparatus assigned + type of incident + address twice - plus maybe 2 cross streets plus maybe a map page plus timeout - (also sometimes give the ambulance that is assigned)
Not sure what the dispatcher is called - perhaps their radio messaging format doesnt really use a name/term for the dispatcher
Heard the morning announcement at 8 am edt - "audio test" - training schedule - weather report - brief pep talk
Heard the radio test on "Tac 9" starting at 805 am edt - sounded like stations 1 thru 37 were called - except there was no Sta 19 (actually - heard Eng 19 go to a call earlier - ??) and no Sta 28 - each station has at least 1 engine that answered - Eng 1 in Sta 1 - Eng 2 in Sta 2 - Eng 3 in Sta 3 - etc
In addition - Sta 1 had Rescue Ladder 1 (RL) - Sta 3 had Heavy Tanker 3 - Sta 4 had Brush Pumper (BP) 4 + Tanker 4 - Sta 5 had HazMat 5 + ? - Sta 6 had RL6 + Rescue 6 - Sta 7 had Ladder 7 - Sta 8 had BP8 - Sta 9 had RL9 - Sta 13 had BP13 - Sta 14 had only RL14 maybe (did not hear Eng 14) - Sta 15 had Ldr 15 + BP15 - Sta 16 had L16 - Sta 18 had L18 (or maybe RL18) - Sta 20 had BP20 - Sta 22 had RL22 - Sta 25 had RL25 - Sta 26 had BP26 + Tanker 26 - Sta 27 had BP27 + Heavy Tanker 27 - Sta 29 had BP29 - Sta 30 had RL30 - Sta 31 had RL31 - Sta 32 had BP32 - Sta 34 had Ldr 34 + BP34 - Sta 35 had BP35 - Sta 36 had BP 36 + ?Tac? 36 - (Sta 37 had BP37 out of service at shop - did not hear Eng 37 - ?? - actually maybe Eng 37 was at a call - cant read my notes - e27 or e37 was at a call)
heard several calls being dispatched - assault victim + CO alarm + stroke call + personal assist all got 1 Engine each
seeing as how they have both "Ladders" and "Rescue Ladders" - I will guess that Rescue Ladders have Jaws of Life
maybe there is a priority (or scan) function on the feed; and Tac 9 has a low priority - at least once during the radio test a different conversation was heard
