• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I picked up a Moto speaker/mike today - PMMN4022A - and it works well with the RT-950.

Great TX & TX audio, and the plug fits like a glove to the side connector of the radio - unlike the programming cable plug ...
So any feedback on VHF/UHF aviation reception?

VHF airband only around here, and it sounds great. The speaker behind the keypad seems good quality and does a great job on all modes.

PC cable arrived yesterday for the RT-950, programmed zone 1 with local amateur repeaters, zone 2 with local airband frequencies. Scan feature works as expected. Airband sounds as good as my Sporty's PJ2 airband radio and seems not as sensitive to household noise generators. APRS works, saw my beacon come up on APRS.fi.

Programming cable fit was fine with careful alignment of the upper tab into the slot, screw pulled the bottom snug to the radio without difficulty. Neat to know the Moto mic will also work well, thanks @VK3RX.

Using the latest firmware and CPS versions, no problems encountered there.

I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my RT-950 Pro.

Disappointing they had to change the programming connections to the Motorola type especially as I have seen a few reports that it is not a good fit to the radio? Maybe just to sell some more adapters as most other users of this type of transceiver will already have the Kenwood style cable.

Does the CPS software allow cut and paste from csv files as some versions do but mostly it seems, not?

I ran across this on Facebook programing the RT-950 Pro with chirp if you're comfortable running it in putting. Python. I assume it will eventually be released in a regular Chirp release.

I tried it but it was unable to load. Citing invalid syntax at line 275. Hopefully the 950 Pro will be setup on CHIRP soon as Radtel's CPS is garbage.

That saved me investigating then (not sure about the snake bit ) so let's hope it does appear on chirp as my 950Pro is still in transit and actually taking a while so let's hope Evri have not lost it, again!
