Hi, I just picked up a used Home Patrol 2 and am trying to figure out how to program it. I have installed Sentinel, updated the database, and verified there are no firmware updates available. I am running version 1.05.

I am located in St Louis, so I have been referencing this WiKi. For the P25 channels, do I need to do anything else to be able to listen to these channels? I would like to manually configure the St. Louis (City) Metropolitan Police channels. When it scans, it finds so many channels. Even when I went into Sentinel, and avoided a ton of stuff I don't care about, it never seems to pick much up.

Is there a simple way to manually enter in each of the frequencies I want to listen to? I have watched a few YouTube videos so far, but not exactly 100% sure and still going to continue researching. I did register the device for advanced features. When I load my favorites, it is still a lot of channels and I get the message "Many channels are selected. These will take a long time to scan. We recommend reducing the range or service types to select fewer." Range = 10 miles, Service is Law Dispatch, Law Tac, and Law Talk.

Seems like a fun hobby, but definitely not as straight forward as I had assumed, which is okay. Just putting the pieces of the puzzle together to better understand how these work.

Thanks,
Matt

Just asking... Are you using the correct Sentinel for the HP-2...
Much easier to program it with Sentinel...

Also my Main Firmware is 1.06 and the Sub is 1.02...

Most St. Louis LE looks like is using full time encryption. No scanner will receive and decode encrypted broadcasts

I've seen discussions in the Missouri forums about the St. Louis area, you would probably get more help there unless an admin could move this there.
@kruser may be of some help
