Good Evening.

I just received my SDS 100. I have had both Whistler TRX 1 & 2 for the past few years. SDS 100 is definitely a better scanner just from the few hours of using it.

The owner’s manual for the SDS 100 and the Uniden website offer little help in understanding the Sentinel software. Programing for the TRX's was primarily done on the computer. I watched the below link which helped stepped me through setting up of a “Discovery & Favorite List.” I have listened to the Discovery file and it seems to be scanning all 218 sites in the state of Ohio. The system is the Ohio MARCS-IP: Multi-Agency Radio Communications, https://www.radioreference.com/db/sid/6643. If I put in my zip code it only scans the site around me.
I also can’t seem to find out how to attach the Favorite to a Quick Key. Page 23 of the manual offers little direction other than - enter all or part of: FF.SS.DD then press E.

If anyone has any links to help a new user it would be greatly appreciated. I took a look at the RRDB Uniden Tavern and didn’t see anything that might help.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Ditch Sentinel and get ProScan to program your radio. There is a pretty sharp learning curve with the SDS100 over the TRX-1 for sure. I've had mine almost a year and still haven't fully figured it out yet.

Agreed. While I hate paying for programming software this is the one purchase I'd recommend to anyone doing a scanner that this covers. I only used it for a couple days with the free trial before I realized I needed this and bought it. If nothing else he can use the 30 day free trial to get it sorted out and see what he thinks.

Take a look at this page in the Wiki:
That's actually Page 1 of a two page FAQ ,

There are a number of links on that page for various topics, and, on page 2, a number of links to videos.

Not only that. Proscan makes programming a breeze. Sentinel, while needed for firmware updates, makes programming harder. Proscan is $50 for the Registered version. It has a lifetime of free updates.

Assign Quick Key to a favorite list:
Edit favorite list, select the Options tab, assign the key where it says FL Quick Key

Also consider ARC536 (Basic or Pro). Pro adds the remote and logging capability, where Basic is for programming only. ARC also makes programming a breeze, IMHO easier than Proscan; I use both although Proscan is usually used for scanners other than the SDS.
