Vic,
Thank for the help. The good news is my son lives in Ohio and this is where the scanner will be used. I checked with the Uniden customer service rep and he said the county he's in hasn't gone digital yet so hopefully this will last him a while before upgrade is required. I wanted to learn about it before I gave it to him. My county is Houston but it will primarily be used in Franklin county (city Hilliard) and Wayne county (city Wooster) in Ohio.
I'm driving up there this Wed and wanted to scan on the way up there. Is there a way I can pick up frequencies as I'm driving through different areas without having to program each city/county?
I know after using this I'm going to want one of my own so that is good to know about this area being digital. Thanks again for all your help.
Randy
Randy attached to this is a free list of starter USD files which you can load into the scanner. I tried to avoid ones with digital systems but there may be some in there.
Since you are not going to keep the scanner download and install ARC246 which is a time limited demo. It will help you in creating new files for the 246. The Usd files in my ZIP require the latest UASD 246 software from Uniden which is a free download.
If these files fail to open in that version of UASD then you are SOL of getting it programmed before Wednesday unless you use ARC246 to import conventional systems along I-75 from rr.com
Attached is also a zip of ARC246 files for Columbus Ohio which is the Franklin County area.
You and your son can find more info on programing and using the 246 at this mailing list.
