Forgive me if this has already been addressed — I've been out of it for a while and haven't found this addressed anywhere.

Has TPD reassigned/added some beats?

I've been hearing Mary units working regular calls at night out of UDSW and Xray units working traffic at nights (or so it sounded). I think I've also heard David units out of UDE a few times. It's confusing me.

If they have changed things around, does anyone have a new map?

Most likely you are hearing someone who has been hired back to work a patrol beat and are using their regular call sign. When shifts are below minimum manpower level, supervisors will go down a list to hire off-duty people to fill in to reach the minimum level. This can result in some unusual radio call signs and normal call signs, but completely out of their usual area.

That makes a lot of sense, Tulsey. That would account for what I've been hearing. Except for the Mary unit.

That's helpful, kj, thank you. Actually, I thought Mary units were the motorcycle units and X-ray units were something like field commanders. Shows you how little I know.

No problem Chaos, I found that one also then realized that it didn't match what I was hearing. After digging around here on RR and reading TPD's annual reports I figured out that they had changed Division/Beat boundaries and shift times again for like the third time in the last 4 or 5 years.

If you want a map of the beat assignments, go to TPD's website and get the 2006 Service Report (latest available) here: http://www.tulsapolice.org/service/SERVICE.pdf

I believe that unit designators correspond to beats i.e. Adam 103 generally works in the Adam 1 (A1) beat area and low numbers i.e. Baker 20 is a supervisor of either a squad (Baker) or a beat area i.e. Baker 2 (B2). Though they can and do cover other areas within a squad or division (you go where the criminals are).

Somewhere on the forum is a thread on that but I haven't been able to find it yet, but I don't think it covered this in any great depth.

I know 2 of the M-Mary units that are on nightside are the cold case homicide/robbery detectives that are on the beats for the 1st time in years. KOTV did a story on it but cant find it with a quick search.

Funny, kj. I found the same annual report. You must have used "The Google" too. That old forum link helps. Thanks!

I actually did see that segment, rox. I doubt these are the same guys. The call the unit was responding to was (I think) a run of the mill domestic in progress. But you never know ...
