maybe one day everyone will be on the 800mhz system

Not likely. It's not even something that's needed in a lot of areas that have it. There are 77 counties in Oklahoma. How many counties have an 800mhz system in place? :)

Is there a scanner that can pick up LPD? I know its encrypted. Also the LFD will be on the system here real soon I got family in the LFD.

I have a Uniden BC350C I know it won't pick up the lpd now but Before I think about buying a new scanner I wanna make sure I know what to get.

Yes there is a scanner and yes your BC350 will not trunk so my 2 cents is go get a fairly new scanner that is capable of trunk tracking (digital or not) and enjoy, and no lawton pd is not encrypted. If it is encrypted its the first PD Ive heard of on the DPS system that is. P.S. Welcome to the group.

Ok thanks do you know what the best uniden scanner to get now that they have the new radios. And I am pretty sure its encrypted I may be wrong because from everything i have read and from the people in my family on the lfd said it is and that when the lfd gets the radios up and running on all there trucks they've got to give all the volentere Fire departments the password to get past the encryption.

The only thing that will be encrypted according to the article linked above is Tact, SWAT and sensitive ch's rest should be in the clear.

Depends on what kinda of money and what kinda of scanning you do? You can get a new trunk tracking III 2,500 channel (uniden bc330t) hand held scanner for around 250.00. You will not need any kindaof password to listen to the system.

Ok thanks I really perfer a base/mobile scanner like my BC350C becuase mine is great but i need the trunk tracker. I been kinda wanting to get a handheld one but uniden on the like new ones half of them ain't got the a/c plugin or charger. And I hate to spend around 250 bucks and not have them in the package.

The Uniden trunking-capable handhelds all have charger/adapters with them. They also, thankfully, can run on alkaline cells (older Unidens used proprietary battery packs - boooo).

As far as "base" units go, they have BCD996T, which also does digital, and the BCT15 which is the same chassis but doesn't do digital. Both come with AC and DC power cords.
