So, any talk groups found for Lawton yet? The Mt. Baker DPS tower seems to be down, possibly due to the weather.

On another topic, I was just activated by state EOC so I'll be monitoring 146.715 thru this next storm as our 146.76 tower is out of action.

Well do you think it be better to get the one with the digital thing because I really ain't got that kind of money. But on the other hand do you think the lpd will change again within several years? I am willing to go $219. But don't wanna get it if i am better off with the digital one. What sucks was I was gonna do some good paying jobs this summer to get me a PS3 but it ain't looking that way now.

Is there a scanner that can pick up LPD? I know its encrypted. Also the LFD will be on the system here real soon I got family in the LFD.

I have a Uniden BC350C I know it won't pick up the lpd now but Before I think about buying a new scanner I wanna make sure I know what to get.

I looked at the news articles a second time and I interpret "The Lawton Police Dept. Goes Digital!" combined with the mention of encryption as meaning digital modulation. Unless I missed something, it will require a scanner capable of receiving P25 modulation to listen to the unencrypted Lawton PD traffic. Whether or not the Fire Department goes P25 digital is not addressed, however, I suggest that is prudent to assume that they will follow the PD.

Before purchasing a scanner, I would check carefully and determine for certain whether or not Lawton's new 800 MHz radios are P25 digital or analog ( and then I'd buy the digital scanner anyway :p).

Yea the LFD will go 800mhz but there problem is they have several different model and year trucks and half of them are not easy to hook up the system so they have to get all this worked out. But they are almost there.

See most the ones in the police cars in town plug in the cig lighter and what not but the older modle firetrucks are not that way they have to get the wires and a bunch of odd ball stuff.

I hope whoever is setting Lawton's system up isn't planning on plugging their repeaters into a cigarette lighter.

You don't plug your lifeline into a cigarette lighter. Surely someone involved in this down there is competent and fires anyone that even LOOKED at cigarette lighter plugs for emergency equipment.

FYI, Lawton PD is on the 800 system now - and is ANALOG. There were two digital and encrypted talkgroups on the Lawton site today, but since they are encrypted, there does not seem to be a need to have a digital scanner at this time in Lawton.

So does anyone have the talkgroups? I am hearing all this talk about them being on the new system but no one has any talks digital or analog? Thanks...

I just submitted some...

58640 - Analog - Lawton PD A (thought to be called "6A")
58672 - Analog - Lawton PD B (called "6B" over the air)
61360 - Analog - Lawton FD (or some other FD in that area) The UHF fire channel still seemed to be in use.

I also heard 14608 and 14576 in digital encrypted mode, so I was unable to determine who that was. It did seem to only be on the Lawton site.

Also, OHP Troop G Channel 2 is 44208 (analog also).

Oh - and none of the Lawton PD traffic was on the Baker Peak, Chickasha, or Walters sites - it was only on Site 19 - Lawton.

I guess I ain't gonna find out lol. I would really appreciate it because I don't have a lot of money to just be throwing out the window and not knowing if it will be worth the price.

The BCT-15 will be able to be reprogrammed to 700 mhz rebanding if it comes about.
I think that was your question.

I don't think they have Baker peak working quite yet. CC is loud and clear but no traffic. It's probably to tough to get to the site to program it right now. All I've heard is the radio techs a few weeks ago before the first storm.

Also, Beckham CO So is adding a second tower (west) that is going on-air on Monday. No other details yet.

Since when does rebanding have anything to do with 700MHz???? Make sure not to lead the new guy astray.

PFC, look in the wiki for rebanding. There are VERY exhaustive resources of info in there on the process.

Oklahoma is up this year I believe.
