... digitally “disconnect” the USB Cable via the USB disconnect/throw-out option in your taskbar and push the power button.
Win 10/11 knows how to handle removable USB devices. If you right click, properties on the scanner/drive you can change the policy or simply verify the device was recognized correctly. As evidence by seeing the removable policy is active. Windows incorporated this change back in 2018.

Has anyone else had poor reception since installing the update?

I'm in the middle of a 4-site simulcast P2 system. My SDS100 has worked great. Every day I put it on the shelf in my office and listen all day. It works great.

After the update, reception has gone to crap. I'm hearing partial transmissions and a lot of garbled audio. It's *almost* like the simulcast distortion of my 436.

None of the programming has changed. My antenna hasn't changed. Literally nothing but the firmware update.
Any ideas?

I just compared both my 100's. one was updated the other was not and they sound exactly the same.
The system I tested on is notorious for bad simulcast distortion.

Try using the total opposite filter setting than what you have set now. If you where using Normal then change to Invert and if you had Wide Invert then change to Wide Normal.

Uniden made a mistake in their Waterfall feature where they didn't handle the local oscillator frequency correct, that it depending of the frequency will be either below or above the received frequency, If they made the same mistake again it will make filters work in reverse in some frequency bands.

I thought it was just me. Traffic will sound fine, then all of a sudden I can't make out anything they are saying.

What I have noticed since the updates is not poor reception but better reception for certain sites. I have 2 sites in a P25 trunked system that are not simulcast but depending on conditions would not usually come in to have traffic. They would occasionally get better at night or certain days. Or if I messed with the antenna. I had left them in since for the most part they were silent. I now see that they show up with traffic more often. Traffic when they come in is readable for the most part, I am guessing 90% of the time. The other 10% when traffic comes on those sites it may be 'garbled'. This has not happened often but something I did notice. If I skip to another site that is stronger and has that traffic it is fine. When you experience the garbled audio is it on a site you normally would not be hearing the audio on and were not getting before? Of course, this may have nothing to do with the updates and everything to do with conditions and propagation and is a coincidence.

Gonna sure sit back and wait to see everybody else's experiences with the new FW before I download it to any of mine
Some of us like to live life on the edge. Installing anything new is a risk, By installing it and providing feedback on how it performs along with suggestions on further improvements shows Uniden that there is a demand for continued support and updates.
