Regarding GPS, is it safe to assume (yes I know) the antenna must have good access to the sky to properly work? If I had the scanner sitting in my center console without being connected to an outside antenna, the GPS would not work. If someone could confirm or explain like I’m a 5 year old I’d appreciate it.

I hope they do an upgrade where we can pick up New Jersey transit the system that they are on cannot be picked up by a scanner TETRA
TETRA has been discussed in this thread several times. As stated in posts in this thread, there's no indication that the SDS150 will decode TETRA at this time.

So, bottom line, at the end of the day, performance-wise when it comes to reception, is there expected to be any real difference in receive between the 100 and 150?

Is it possible to track the location of a lost SDS150 using its built in GPS and U/Aware app? Does that sound like something that could be accomplished with a software/firmware update or would additional hardware be required?

At this time, no. I'm sure you are talking like an AirTag? As the SDS150 does not have an internet connection it would take crowdsourcing with Apple devices with an active internet connection with a U1/U2/U3 chip (iPhone 11 and newer).

I am not referring to the use of an AirTag. I understand now that the SDS150 cannot be tracked via GPS without additional hardware. I had known some people in high school who were on court ordered GPS monitoring and I remember now that they were required to have a working phone line at home in order for the system to operate.

U/Aware 1.0.5 has been released to beta testers as of late last night. I have installed on my iPhone and MacBook Pro.

I have not figured out how to get the screen recording app to capture the audio from the programs as of yet but am working on it. I will upload a video if I can't get the audio situation fixed. Anyhow here is the screen capture:

Sorry if asked already, how will this preform to the sds200?

Also, kind of hoping the sds 100 drops in price then.

I was trying to get any audio to listen to and looked at my computer settings and on the video if there where a crossed out loudspeaker but then I noticed that the SDS150 where set to volume 0.

I'm more worried about reliability. I have two SDS100s, both needing to go back for repairs. One for the second cold solder joint repair after factory failure and another for a cold solder joint repair and power jack problem. I also have an expanded battery.

I would also like to see the squelch setting made more useful (I apologize, but I don't know the technical term for that). Any setting other than 2, doesn't seem to be useful. Another, is not having to use OFT for a single conventional DMR channel that will accommodate slot, color code and TGID. I'm sorry if these topics have already been addressed. I'm trying to follow this thread as best as I can.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to wait and see...

I will seriously consider the Unication G5 before I make any decisions.

I hope they fix that in the SDS150. I tested my SDS100 and SQ at 2 open at a signal of -122dBm and when increasing squelch it doesn't happen much. At SQ13 it opens at -120dBm and at SQ15 at -116dBm. This at VHF and UHF.

When testing at 760MHz and 860MHz it gets more alarming. It's about the same at lower SQ settings but are more aggressive at higher settings and at SQ15 it opens at -74dBm, which is pretty good, but then closes its SQ down at -119dBm.

This squelch behavior sets off all kinds of strange things happening to the scanner that can be very confusing to a user.

Maybe the squelch table in the scanner that sets the SQ level at different frequency bands and the difference it should have between open and close are somehow corrupt in my scanner, but we do not have any access to its service mode so that we could check and correct/adjust for proper squelch functions.
