do you know why the normal scanner traffic cuts in and out when the WX priortiy is selected?

The radio checks the WX channel every 5 sec, so the tuner has to switch frequency. The scanner has only one tuner therefore every 5 sec it will cut out. For the SAME Weather Alert to function the scanner has to set on standby like Fire Tone Out so the radio can't scan at all.

I see. I assumed it would run in parallel with any active scanning. I picked up a dedicated WX SAME radio on ebay.
