Hello! I’m new here and wanted to introduce myself. I’m not entirely sure this is the right place to post this, so my apologies if it isn’t.
My name is Jeremy, and I run a local tree service in Buffalo, NY. I have a lot of questions about building a communication system—possibly GMRS—for our business. Ideally, I’m hoping to find a coach or “big brother” type person who wouldn’t mind helping me brainstorm the best options for reliable local communications.
Right now we’re using a nationwide PTT service, but there are several issues with it that I won’t dive into just yet. I’m really looking for someone who can walk me through this process and point me in the right direction.
I’ll leave this here and see what responses I get. I’m happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability. Thank you all for your time!

Keep in-mind this is a Hobby forum, altho there are many members in the Radio Industry, it is still a HOBBY forum

I'm sure on of our fine experts will re-iterate - GMRS for Business is a NO NO

That said have you reached out to a local radio shop, who would better suited to handle your questions/service based on better knowledge of the local terrain and your expectations...

I'm no expert at building systems so I'll leave that to the pros but some questions should be answered by you:
  • How many users?
  • How wide of a coverage area would you require?
  • What's your budget?

Yeah, reach out to your local radio shop(s). Welcome to the RR forums!

Original poster.. a key word that you said was.. dependable.

Google a local commercial Business radio shop as the others have said here. They are experts. They will have different options for your company depending on different factors and cost.

Trying to put something together that you don't know anything about using the different opinions from a forum is not the direction to go in.

That's why the experts are experts, they have the knowledge, know how and resources to set you up within your budget.. remember you get what you pay for. Good luck to you.

There's a handful of us that are engineers/techs in the two way radio industry and will be happy to help.
GMRS -is- legal for business use in some cases but it gets very complex with licensing.
GMRS is -not- the correct place to be doing this.

Right now we’re using a nationwide PTT service, but there are several issues with it that I won’t dive into just yet.

We should totally dive into those first. Knowing how that service isn't working for you would help us give you better advice.

I’m really looking for someone who can walk me through this process and point me in the right direction.

As said above, this is primarily a hobby website but there are a handful of us that have worked in the industry for several decades and will be happy to help.
It'll be on you to filter the information as some advice you'll get from the hobby side won't be legal or appropriate.

I’ll leave this here and see what responses I get. I’m happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability. Thank you all for your time!

If you’d be willing to contact me directly, I’d really appreciate it. I’m into radios as a hobby too, but right now I’m focused on getting something set up for business use. I’m not sure if I can PM you on here—I don’t think I have permissions. Maybe you do? 😄

If you’re able to send me a PM, I can share my phone number and we can text or talk. I’ve tried calling several vendors, but their prices seem very high, and I’d rather not rent equipment if I don’t have to. I’m guessing LMR is probably the way to go? Thank you so much.

I don't do phone consultations.
You'll get much better help by posting your questions here and getting help from others that are on here.
