Hello. I just recently got a uniden bcd996xt digital scanner. I'm trying to program it for my county of furnas county nebraska. I've found frequencies on here but I can't find talkgroup information. I'm attempting to manually program it, as I wasn't given a cable to go with it!

The USB1 cable is showing in-stock at Scanner Master....

you have a variety of software that can program it...Freescan (abandoned but quite workeable for the XT) ARC-XT and ProScan.

Everything you need to know abut this scanner is linked here. Software is linked at the bottom

The Easier to Read guides and programming videos are all linked under the Relevant Resources link

Good luck...Mike

That cable is a THIRD-PARTY shipper! It is NOT a Uniden America OEM cable.

Jamie- Understandable.
There are some conventional frequencies in your area that are easy to hand program into your Bearcat BCD996XT. Trunking is a lot more difficult as each one is a TGID.
I can help you via telephone, put in each conventional frequency if you'd like as there aren't too many. Your area mainly uses APCO-25 Phase 2 which that model is not capable of receiving. The newer model, Bearcat BCD996P2 does bother Phase 1/2 digital.
Another member suggested looking at Marks Easy To Use Scanner Guide and that is a great source, Jamie.

I'm pretty sure I've got those programmed, I was hearing traffic and then it went to static and I had turn squelch up and now I don't hear anything. So I thought maybe I programmed it wrong! Thank you for all your help

Set squelch to 2.

Except for 7 talkgroups in Scotts Bluff County, all of the talkgroups on the Nebraska State Radio System are currently P25 Phase 1 which the BCD996XT is capable of receiving. P25 conventional frequencies are all Phase 1. It is correct that there are only 4 conventional frequencies for Furnas County. You live in a frequency desert. There are currently no talkgroups specifically for Furnas County on the state system, but there are plenty of other talkgroups that will be of interest to you. Nebraska State Radio System Trunking System, Statewide, Nebraska

The Mode of the following frequency should be FMN (NFM is the same). By law, all frequencies in that band (Except for certain exempted TV station frequencies licensed for remote pickup) must be narrowband. The database has not caught up with all of the changes.
