If you are going to use separate antennas, you will likely need one for each band and a coax switch. Because FM uses vertical polarization as a rule, the basic antenna is a 1/4 wave vertical (with a ground plane or radials). A formula for the length of the antenna (in feet) would be 234/F where F is the frequency in MHz. Antennas can be made physically shorter by various means but as size decreases performance usually drops off-particularly on receive. Home brewing antennas can become a hobby within a hobby if you are so inclined. the antenna is a major (some would say the major) part of a station and it is also a place where everyone has opinions-price and spec sheets don't tell the whole story.
